Max Domi Victor Mete contract

Created by: GMs
Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 22, 2019
Published: Dec. 22, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If Max Domi continu to play like he’s playing this year, he won't makes more than 6M AAV long terms. Personally, I’ll take a guess and try to sign him 7 years around 6.5M and hopefully he finds is game next year.

PS : Caufield and Romanov don’t join the team next year ! WORSE CASE SCENARIO!! Caufield stay another year in college and Romanov sign a 1 year extension with is KHL team. Probably won’t happen, but let’s say.

Mete contract comparable : Samuel Girard 7 years 5M AAV, Mete isn’t good like Girard, but pretty close. 1M less. Sorry but Cousins Weal will probably be back next year lmao

Bring Crawford back home, giving another year to Primeau in the AHL to develop !

You are out to lunch. He's getting 7.25-8 easily. Just like Nylander, Keller, those types. It's been established long ago thats the new cost for these types of players

Bergevin got Aho to sign a 8.6 million deal, he is not going to sign Domi to over 7.5 wit the year he is having

You didn’t watch a habs game this year, Domi is worth 4M right now on how he’s playing. If he ends up under 55 points, I doubt he’s getting 6M

They he will not get him. If it's 6 mil it's going to be well less than 6 years.
The 8.5 for Aho jut proves how dumb habs fans are. Total publicity stunt knowing they were getting nobody and you guys ate it right up.

It doesn't matter anymore. I agree its insane but this is the new reality. Agents come with 100 different stats and comparables that fit their narrative and they usually win
I am a leaf fan and it's the same with Marner. Hes not worth what he got but sooner or later you have no choice. The system is set up for the RFAs to win now. It will change likely next contract

There is a lot of season left so who knows how he ends the season but Bergevin isnt going to just give him what he wants. Typically Bergevin holds his ground on what he thinks a players value is, you saw it with Subbans contract, Molson had to step in and force him to get it done. Why are Habs fans dumb for the Aho offer sheet? Bergevin had an opportunity and took it, it's what you want to see from a good GM. Plus is was a two birds one Stone tactic by him.

No they lost out on numerous players and did it to show they " are trying" and it was a laughable offer. Everyone knows it in the hockey world

Ya they talked to Duchene and Gardiner, that's about it, cant force FAs to sign, especially in a hockey hot bed market where its that much harder to sign FAs. Iv never understood the criticism to the offer, he talked to the agent, found out he was willing to sign for 8.5 over 5, so you say yes, literally any GM in the league that had that opportunity would do it. People can day it was laughable but it was a smart and sensible risk. Plus sign him to the next bracket at 10 million or over, give up three 1st round picks and people would still criticize that it was a ridiculous amount to give up, cant win with either move.

I know exactly what they did. It's simple marketing. I have season tickets. The day before they sent out a mass email on how they were going to do everything possible to try and make the team better as a marketing stand point for season ticket renewals. This year was the same as the last few where no free agents would come there. Out of desperation (I think it was ownership and not Bergie) they made a sad effort to get an elite player. If they wanted Aho that badly they should have made an offer higher and not care about the picks. Everyone in hockey, literally every single person knew the Canes would match it and yet they still made the offer. Why? Because there are many many fans not on these sites and who are more casual fans who ate it up badly as a positive as if "at least they are trying".
Also any other GM in the league could have offered that, but they knew it would take more. That's why

You chose your comparables, I chose mine. BTW, it's pretty DUMB to use 7 millions contracts to justify Domi would get 8...

Based on Karlson and Larkin, 6 a years seems about right.

As for Aho, nobody commiting to a 60 millions dollars front loaded contract do it only for marketing purposes. It was not Bergevin's fault if Carolina's owner decided to sell some luxury cars to match the deal.

I agree with your take on Domi. Offer him a front loaded contract so there's better chances he signs something that may seem low.

I'd like a contract like this for Mete, but something tells me he'll just sign a bridge deal.

Haha and it's very DUMB to use comparables from two seasons ago, ignore inflation, and ignore the fact he's further in his career/more UFA years to be bought. This tells me you legit have no clue how contracts in the NHL work.
Also thats an adorable story about the Hurricanes owner, and get your numbers correct. It was 42-43 mil not 60 mil. If you would like to defend that offersheet (that was flat out laughed at by the entire NHL) then go ahead. You must be as blind as many of your fans. Keep drinking the beers bud, that's what they want

I love leafs fans. They think that because their team made the stupid decision to overpay for a bunch of players, everybody will do the same. Real trendsetters! Keep calling it inflation wink

BTW, Karlsson contract is on its first year, dummer.

Based on what he's accomplished and his age/UFA years to be bought.
This is considering the 6 year term that the original poster put
