Vatanen will almost certainly cost more than you’re offering given his age and demonstrated offensive abilities. The Tafoli deal is closer, but LA will likely want a bit more - say, Lagesson or another mid-grade prospect.

It's an overpay IMO. He's - at best - a mild upgrade over Benning, and is a UFA at season's end meaning you potentially lose him for nothing, whereas Benning is an RFA.

5v5 P/60 this year (GF%)
Vatanen: 1.02 (48.57%)
Benning: 0.98 (66.67%)

5v5 P/60 past 3 years (GF%)
Vatanen: 0.62 (47.53%)
Benning: 0.81 (54.44%)

Benning played mostly 2nd and 3rd pairing over this period while Vatanen played almost entirely 2nd pairing, so that needs to be taken into consideration. But I don't think it outweighs their contract status difference, partly due to the fact that Vatanen would be on the 3rd pairing in Edmonton.
