the difference between where that rangers pick is and where that carolina pick would end up if they made the stanley cup isnt that significant a difference to label this an overpay. hintz will be more impactful to the stars than either player those picks end up being.

Ive done research. where do you expect these first round picks to fall is the question. Your condition on the 2nd being a first is if they make it to the scf. so that pick is automatically 30 or 31. Torontos pick could be a top 10 pick which means its protected. torontos pick could also be 31 (HIGHLY DOUBTFUL) but that would be the ultimate worst case scenario right? Hintz is having a similar year to 27 year old nino. radulov is outproducing tvr. I literally dont see the value you are preaching here. I dont think nino is anything special. TVR is a 28 year old 6/7th dman. radulov and hintz are both top 6 players. hintz is 23 and cost controlled. the depth in this draft is good dont get me wrong but after pick 20 the depth kind of drops off. Im impartial but if im dallas there is no scenario where i trade hintz unless its a top 5 pick this year guaranteed.

Radulov out producing a Dman on a loaded D core?... well obviously!... TvR is top 4 on most teams ( definitely top 4 in Dallas, which they do need to upgrade the right side.)

Also lets be honest here. Do we really think Dallas is going to come anywhere near a cup in the next 5 years? I would start loading up now if i were them.

And you are right about the 1sts.. It doesnt matter where they fall between 15-31, because the draft is loaded and you cant go wrong with any pick.

I love when people say this... if he was a top 4 on "most teams" they would have traded him for a top 4 return already or would actually be using him in a top 4 role instead of paying him to be a 6th/7th dman. as a canes fan you are overvaluing your players. thats fine, we all do it. but this trade isnt good for dallas at all.

That not how this works... Just because you have a player doesnt mean you need to trade him.. Canes could go into the playoffs with 7 dmen.. it would just make more sense for them to trade him to better the offense. Also, not going to get t4 value on an expiring contract.

Also I am not over valuing .. you are under valuing a player you probably haven't watched once since he was traded from Chicago.

You are correct I do not watch a lot of the West.

When making this trade, I look at moves like the Colorado-Toronto Trade with Barrie and Kerfoot. At the time of Trade you could value them @ Barrie > Radulov and Kerfoot > Hintz

All toronto had to give up was Kadri and they got Barrie with cap retention.

So thats where I get this value from.
