If Winnipeg wins the cup and Ottawa finishes close to last, they’re basically just trading Tierney and Hainsey for Spacek. I feel like Ottawa’s better off not making this trade.

Spacek used to have middle 6 potential at one point if I'm not mistaken, but now he's 22 and struggling in the AHL. I'd say that his value is very low and it would be more worth it for Winnipeg just to hold onto him at this point. As for the trade, I would remove Spacek and Hainsey from the Ottawa side since Ottawa is struggling for NHL defensemen as it is, and maybe change that 2nd to a 2021 3rd.

If a defencemen is necessary coming back, maybe go for Lajoie since next season we'll have him, Chabot, Brannstrom, Wolanin, and maybe Borowiecki on the left side, at which point I would make it Tierney, Lajoie, and a 4th or 5th for Winnipeg's 1st.

I feel like thats some worst + worst case evaluation.

Tierney is worth a 2nd. Hainsey is worth a 4th.

I considered it a 1st + Spacek for 2nd/2nd and 4th. OTT needs RW prospects.

I thought Spacek because I suspect Appleton and Vesalainen are off the table.

Tierney is still a RFA at the end of the season, so IMO it's not enough for Ottawa.
Let's say Hainsey is a 3rd....Expiring contract Hayes cost Jets a first and Lemiuex last season, surely Tierney is worth at least that, not as second as you suggest.

Jets shouldn't trade their 2020 1st, maybe the 2021 but not this summers pick.

Tierney would be a nice addition and anything that could push Lowry down the lineup is good but if Little comes back I'm not sure adding Tierney is necessary.

I dont think the deal is necesarry for the jets. Honestly, I would take pretty much all of their dmen over Hainsey right now and even though Teirney is an upgrade on paper for the left side, the jets are getting great production from Beaulieu and Sbisa. No need to rock the boat and mess with a good thing, especially if that means dealing their 1st

I wasn't factoring in Hainsey at all.. Lol...was just looking at the addition of Tierney down the middle and what that could mean for generating some offense from the 3rd line which would be huge for the Jets.

I'm not worried about the defense, it's an overblown issue, lack of bottom 6 production is this teams biggest problem and Tierney would help correct that.
