I personally think marner and JT's play styles fit better together. Marner is the kind of player who will draw in 2 defenders, do some crazy s*it and setup his linemate up backdoor with no one covering them. Even that goal against Detroit when he made the pass from behind the net to set matthews up infront is a good example. I personally think that's a waste of matthews shooting talent. Matthews can be very successful when he has someone who can get him the puck in the high slot or top of the circles and he has the release to score from there, JT doesnt have that ability.
I'm doing a terrible job at explaining my thinking but I'm so tired that I dont want to go into too much depth. I just think its beneficial in the long run, JT-WN and AM-MM will work but I think the way it was before is the best way to make sure you get the most out of marner and matthews.
I'm quite happy to see Keefe trying things so we know what works in a pinch but I dont think changing things up permanent probably isnt necessary
