Did you forget that in order to acquire useful players you have to give up something of value?

I assume you are talking about the CHI-TOR trade, Duszak whom is fresh out of NCAA had 47 points in 32 games (Lead NCAA Defencemen in scoring), Åberg Whom could easy be in the Bottom 6 for Chicago with a Pick? I think thats pretty decent for Murphy whom is a Middle pair Defencemen with 2 1/2 Years left going to UFA

Most College free agents start in the ECHL the rare one will start in the AHL. While that is still true he played in a weak Division they do not play only D3. Scout reports read that Duszak will be a Middle pair defencemen with strong power play quarterback ability

No, most college free agents that end up in the NHL decidedly do NOT start in the ECHL.

Seriously, I went to a small division III college in ohio with a club team, not even a real team. mercyhurst was our biggest rival!

come on man.

Connor Murphy for a bunch of minor league spare parts and a low draft pick? Yeah, good one man. Dream on.

I doubt you could get Murphy for ALL of the Leafs players you have listed here in both trades. (Chicago Cap limitations aside).

If you offer garbage, expect someone else's garbage in return.

Kapanen + Ceci + 2nd probably gets the Blackhawks to at least pick up the phone. Anything less than that.... forget it.

1st one favors Toronto and 2nd the Devil's. You don't give up young goalies especially if it's Ian Scott.

Underpay with both trades realisticially.

Coleman is a cheap middle 6 C signed for two years. Coleman is going to cost more than a 2nd + a goalie who has suffered a huge setback due to injury.

For Murphy, you're going to have to give up more than Duszak & Aberg. Both are questionable free agent talents. Aberg is too good for the AHL but seems to suffer from TJ Brennan syndrome. Duszak is actually quite young for just finishing college, so him dominating the ECHL as a 22 year old isn't necessarily bad. DUring his short stint with the Marlies last year he looked comfortable playing in a top 4 role. I imagine next year he jumps to the AHL and is relied upon heavily on the right side along with Lindgren. But while Duszak is probably underrated, he's not getting you Murphy.

Probably closer to what they would realisticially get for him. The Coleman trade though I think now is off. Optimisticially you may be able to get him for something like Ceci + Scott + 3rd, but that is really only if NJ think Ceci has some value.
