I can’t see CGY splitting up the Hanifin-Hamonic pair. I’d bet that Hamonic would extend for 4-5 years for around $5M too, he seems very happy in CGY.

If Johnson was playing better, this might be closer to value. Joseph is the only real interesting piece, and Bennett is still only 21 years old, with lots of NHL experience. The No-trade language in Johnson’s contract makes this ugly too — what impact does that have for CGY (or any team who acquires Johnson) for the Seattle draft?

Johnson is never waiving, especially not during the season and as mentioned, Calgary isn't trading Hamonic for that either. Tampa's defense is actually decent with Serg taking a big step this year and Rutta actually being a solid pair with Hedman lately. No trade is happening here.

Naah, Rutta sucks cry Help cry , don't base your opinion about him when we play bad teams. He is only an offensive D-man, he can shoot the puck... but those are not goals usually ,like for other good defenders like John Carlson, that shot is deadly...
See what he does vs superstars in D-zone... we just lose...Rutta is not an option for playoffs, except if 2 other D players injured... or we shouldn't even enter the playoffs... if we try it with Rutta-Hedman pairing... the bad part : The Hedman injury--- just remember last year... we were instantly done.... then we have Rutta + who : yeah just hopeless games.. We need stronger D for sure... we have the capspace, so...

If we can't get Kreid/Toff or similar player ( too much price - bidding war)- then we should get a good RHD!
Coburn also horrifiying... u have no idea how much he regressed... he is the new Girardi = AHL level...
i'm not saying we should aim for Carolina Hurricanes / St. Louis Blues D core power- but we should get closer to them, or else they win, and we lose... in MEANINGFUL playoffs games, cause don't kid ourselves, reg season is doesn't matter for us.... just get in the playoffs and see what happens... but the see what happens part we need to be prepared for injuries... Cernak also has a down year btw... like he played 2 times better last year... yes serg is better... but that's not a lot... Defense wins cups... and ours = 2.8goal/game allowed = trash...(and im being biased -cause if i check NHL.com stats it's gonna be higher...)
I know Vasi is bad this year, but can he turn around come playoffs time? Huge Questionmark Huh? I really hope he can, but it's only me...

My new target: Josh Manson for whatever it takes ( 1st round pick included) nod

Tampa is not giving up major pieces for a d rental. Rutta has been serviceable and at least a decent partner for Hedman. I don't like him long term in the top 4 either but short term he's fine. For the playoffs I'd rather see Hedman-Serg/Shattenkirk, McD-Cernak, Coburn-Sergachev/Shattenkirk, with Rutta as a #7 or Coburn as a 7 and Rutta slotting in. Tampa needs someone like Kreider or Toffoli much more than a Manson at this point. Manson isn't a bad add, but just a luxury that would require too much and would also be a rental.

I mixed up Manson with someone else, so while not a rental, Tampa still couldn't afford his 4.1 million hit for 2 more years after this one.
