With the Detroit trade I think is pretty much dead on. Ladd and Abdelkader are both pretty bad and they both have 3 seasons left after this season. Ladd is 2yrs older and $1.25M more a season than Abdelkader so Ho-Sang and a 3rd are very fair. I'm just not sure either team does this.

Ladd has a much better chance of going on LTIR in the near future

That would tip the balance towards Detroit.

Abdelakder can be much more easily bought out after this season since he has no signing bonus money left on his contract.

That depends I would say more evenly since $2.3M is the highest amount you pay and $1M is the lowest. Now with Ladd $4.8M for the first 3 seasons and $333,333 for the last 3 seasons which might even be better for Detroit so when the team starts to get back into the playoffs they have less than $1M and its spread out over 3 years. So it really depends on the situation. Yzerman has yet to take any cap dumps so I'm not sure he would do this trade in the first place.
