If Middlestat wasn't in the middle of a hugely disappointing season, then I would say that the value is close, if not still a little light on Buffalo's end.

However, with the season he's actually having, Buffalo would have to add an additional 1st or A prospect for Nashville to seriously consider trading their 1C.

So Nashville trades away their #1C, virtually abandoning any realistic chance at going far into the playoffs this year, and Buffalo misses the playoffs, so next season the Preds are left with Casey Mittelstadt and the hope of a good pick in June 2021? They trade away Ryan Johansen for a year-and-a-half of Casey Mittelstadt and a 2021 first? Really? Even Peter Chiarelli wouldn't do that.

It reminds me of the deal of our idiot GM with St. Louis when he trade ROR, Nashville won't do it.

Lol. I mean it's better than what st Louis gave us. Mittelstadt has questions but Thompson blows. And our first will be way better than pick 31. And bogosian and sheary don't have 6 years of cap dumps between them. But yes, Nashville would probably not be interested in moving Johansen for this.

Interesting proposal... if Nashville falls out of playoff contention I’d consider it as part of a soft reset of sorts and then flip shears and bogo for picks. Still think buffalo might need to add something small to help grease the wheels since all the risk is basically on Nashville’s end. The first might not turn into anything worthwhile and mitt might never live up to the draft position

Its more timing being wrong. If you are going to the playoffs you dont trade your #1 center for futures.
