Just what Toronto needs to solve their RhD problem -- a fourth-pairing LhD behind Morgan Reilly, Jake Muzzin and Travis Dermott! And it only costs the Maple Leafs a third!!

You have the right idea. I’d love for the hawks to demand more 1st round picks for eating people’s dead space and helping them open cap to get rentals for playoff runs.

Always love getting more picks by why would teams slide us a ton of them just to take guys on expiring, if expensive deals?

Unless Seabrook is done for good (he very well could be), I think the space is going to waste. Maybe they claw their way back into a playoff spot and go after a rental at the deadline (Toffoli?) but I highly doubt that at this point.

As a Leafs fan, if you want that CBJ 3rd, there can be NO retention. That pick has more value than the return you have suggested. I think I pass on this even without the retention. Not worth it from a Leafs perspective.

There's a lot of history to these picks.

7th Dmen has historically been worth 3rd rounders. Brandon Davrdson, Michal Kempny, Nick Holden, etc... So while I agree Ceci is worth more...how much more??? His cap hit is crazy. TOR gets a 7th Dman going back...on an RFA. Ceci still has a VERY large cap hit for what he brings. I'm pretty shocked people are saying that this trade doesn't have value to be honest. Again, I get that Ceci is ok, but no one has even said "Good". Take that cap space and find a better player.

Yeah, Ceci half retain and really more so GUS is worth that. Maybe take out the 3rd, but i refer to my previous historically references...7th Dmen have been worth 3rd round picks. (2) better than 7th and one of then even scored 60 points last year...yeah the value is there.

Make that Oilers trade Lehner and it's at least realistic, can't see Crawford waiving for Edmonton, guess Smith has some trade protection too though so it's probably an unrealistic swap regardless.

You might be right due to the clauses. Crow may not want to go to EDM either. I really didn't consider that, but I think the value is there.

Ceci is worth more than GUS IMO, Ceci can play defense and be physical, Gus is horrible everywhere exept the offensive zone. Plus Gus isn’t putting points like last year, so a early 3rd round pick or a middle/late 3rd + 5th sounds about right for Gus. Lovejoy, Kempny Holden are all defensive dman, what teams are looking for, 3rd pairing dman good defensively. Brendan Davidsson is ridiculous, he’s been claimed of waivers by Edmonton and got a 3rd round pick a couple weeks after. NYI Gm was drunk when he mades the trade

Its not the value I have issue with on the TOR trade, its more position based. I know SK can play RHD but I believe the leafs want a solid RHD and a goalie.

As for the VGK trade, I don't think we get the value there enough. Ceci probably fetches a 4th, Gus with Vegas may get a 2nd plus a 3rd-5th rounder with it but then adding in a player, understandably for cap reasons I just don't think there is enough value for the Golden Knights.
