Good goal scorer? Yes. One of the better pure goal scores in the league? Yeah probably. Best pure goal acorer in the league? Certainly not. Literally all year the talk has been about Ovechkin passing Gretzky's goal record. I doubt Matthews will ever get there but there is a solid chance he score 600+ in his career

I actually was out after the game for a while and sorry if you missed not reading another Leafs Powerhouse team post tonight. The Leafs picked up another point tonight when Leafs came back from a 2 goal deficit in the third period to actually tie the game. Keefes record is now 12 wins, 4 losses and 1 OTL which is very impressive as he continues to turn the Leafs into a Powerhouse team. You may not have realized that the Leafs were playing without Muzzin and Michakev tonight and this was the 2nd game of a back to back so they actually did well this week-end.

Or really they lost at home against a non playoff team and gave up 5 goals without Muzzin and Michakev? Well teams like pittsburgh are taking care of business without Crosby, Schultz, Dumoulin, and Bjugstad and winning their games, even the back to back ones like tonight. Leafs are not a powerhouse team lol

Agree, Leafs are not a powerhouse team. They are a borderline playoff team like the last 3 years. Defense and goaltending will kill them as we all know, but that's what happens when you spend 1/2 the cap on 4 players up front...a team without balance. They should make a trade immediately to bolster defense and or goaltending.

Realistically, when he starts to get consecutive 50+ goal seasons in more ways than Ovechkin then he and his ugly pedophile Stache can have that title.

Leafs playing without mikheyev, Moore, Johnsson and muzzin. Certainly doesn’t match missing Crosby but doesn’t make things easy.

Little early to say rangers aren’t a playoff team. Had them picked before the season to surprise. Not a bad team at all.

Just curious though... are you trying to say the pens haven’t Lost any games to teams not currently holding a playoff spot?

Matthews the best pure goal scorer? Nah but he’s climbing his way up there. Certainly one of the best 5v5 goal scorers in the league. He has quite a bit more than that in his bag of tricks. Seems to be rounding out many skills to become a franchise centre.

He's a great goalscorer. He has an elite shot, but he's not the best. Ovi is arguably the best goalscorer of all-time. Matthews has the potential to get close to Ovi since his 5v5 stats are great. But Matthews has to get some b2b 50 goals seasons to be in that conversation

I'm gonna say not a power house but they are finding ways to win games. Until they dominate in play and scoreboard, they are just a good offensive team on a hot streak. Which is ok, less than a handful of teams are a 'powerhouse'. As for the injury thing, many other teams have had worse situations and the Rangers were on a back to back too. So a good effort for a back to back shouldn't apply here

Mike bossy and mario lemieux where averaging ove 0.75 goal per game when they each played. And mario lemieux did is most part in the 90’s where the game was thought on forward. So ovechkin is still behind. Ovechkin might have the best shot and the best release ever but he isnt a guy who daggle a lot of goalie or defenseman. Most of is goal come on one timer or on powerplay.

No, Im saying im not calling the pens a powerhouse team like that leafs fan. He brought up the fact the leafs won with missing players, so I brought up the pens did the same thing against a better team with more injuries. Hes acting like the leafs are the only team in the league that wins with injuries and the only team ever to get on a hot streak
