As long as Byram lives up to that #2 ceiling people are talking about I think it makes sense for both teams.

I like your creativity, but I would pass on this deal. I’m a big Byram fan but this is a risky move for the Hawks and one they can not afford to make.

Huh, this makes a lot of sense in theory. But the idea of trading one of my favorite players kind of makes my skin crawl... and to Colorado no less? Hmmmm No comment.

Gourde (since cap will have to be sent back), Nolan Foote, and the VAN 1st.

@ChiHawk As for the trade itself. The value is there. I just wouldn't want to do it because who else is going to score on the Hawks?! Kane can't do everything himself and he is 31. Also, not all prospects turn out. I know, I know, that sounds contradictory to the comments I made about the previous Saad trade. It's just that 40 goal scorers don't grow on trees and the Cat did it in his 2nd NHL season. You know how many 40 goal seasons Kane has in his career...TWO. I'm not truly suggesting they're equal, but what Debrincat provides is very underrated. He's going to be driving his own line very shortly and THOSE are the players you can't trade away. The difference makers.

***EDIT*** If we redrafted 2016...where would he go? I think 4th OA, but I could see 5th too. Matthews, Tkachuk, Laine, Debrincat, Luc Dubios, Carter Hart

These are some really savvy moves, I think they are all fair value though echo the above comments about trading the Cat.

Byram would really bring "potentially" a solid D line with Boqvist/Mitchell for our future but it is a big IF at the moment. In saying that, we may be able to pick up a really nice young wing in the top 10 of this draft which would help lessen the blow. It may also allow us to trade off Murphy down the line for a top 6 forward.

If this were to go ahead, we may look at getting a return on Strome also

good value interesting idea but still wouldnt do it. Avs need Byram more than they need DeBrincat

Teams prolong their cup window by having high end talent on ELCs, why you dont move Byram. DeBrincat and his extension would start to eat into the depth and put the Avs in cap issues before they even get to the end of the MacKinnon contract.

Really interesting idea. I don't like trading DeBrincat just because he's having a down year, but they need a future top pairing defenseman so bad.

Because Byram hasn't seen any time in the NHL, there's a lot of risk in this deal for Chicago. I'd prefer a guy like Girard instead, which I know wouldn't happen, but he's more of a known quantity and has similar upside.
