SELLERS at 2020 TDL and UFARFA for next year

Created by: yanleg96
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 29, 2019
Published: Dec. 30, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
- New york, vegas and anaheim trades happened at TDL 2020.

- VGK really need a top 4 D-man so petry is not a rental so thats why i expect a return like a good prospect as cody glass, they still have their 1st round in this good draft year and became contenders. Eakin is just too release space and thompson could be a good player on their 4th line with his experience and they receive a third round pick.

- You finish the year with the kids let them play and take experience this year. All we can wish is to to go down and draft in top 3.

- All UFA/RFA signatures happened after the draft.

- Alzner buyout happenend in summer 2020.

- Trade with WPG happenened in summer 2020

Considering VGK weren't willing to give up Glass for Erik Karlsson, I can't imagine they've changed their tune.

that domi contract is a near impossible sweetheart deal--i'd expect him to request 9m and get somewhere in the neighborhood of 8m.

also don't think slava voynov is ever playing in the NHL again

based on What?

he's not going to hit 50 points this year at the pace he's going .
he cannot play head to head vs top line talent without losing us the game
he's a very good 2nd/3rd line player as long as the other team doesnt have a Wheeler , Krejci ,Schenn or any other legit top 6 forwards .

Domi is looking at Ehlers money but he'll never get Connor money as Connor is superior all around .
Domi like Subban get overvalued because he's popular among new hockey fans. No team is paying Domi as much as Mckinnon's likely gonna get less then .
look at the people making 9m and then you'll laugh REALLY HARD at your statement as Domi's not in their Class .

Voynov will play because the NHL helped the KHL grow inspite of the NHL and their prejudice against the Russian Voynov .
Voynov returned to Russia at the top of his game helping the league's awareness grow to the point they've captured the Chinese market and are expanding into Sweden in 2022 .
Russia's Vision is to become what NHL claims with divisions accross the world . The fact that they support IIHF and the olympics while the NHL gives Russian elite talent like Ovechkin more reasons to join Datsyuk in returning home to lead the league .

if NHL continues to leave high powered players the choice they'll continue to go to Russia because outside the NHL you'll find no other league with as many Canadians playing . Russia changed its philosophy when they made the KHL a decade ago molding themselves after the NHL and building from the ground up so it didnt collapse like the Russian Super league due to political division . At this point it took the NHL 40 years to get to where the KHL currently is and they got no one to blame but Bettman who's done more to grow the KHL then he has the NHL at this point .

KHL couldnt be as big as it is without Bettmans Prejudice's .
Without Bettman punishing Voynov 1 way then giving Auston Watson a slap on the wrist for the same incident showed the world him being Russian was the defining factor forcing Bettman to review the suspension after Russian Media printed a slam piece on the Prejudice one . Now 5 years later Bettmans fixing his mistake at the cost of the LAK without apology or shame. Voynov will be back because Bettman needs it more then John Ziegler did before they owners fired him hanging him out to dry after a huge failure on his part in negotiations with the NHLPA . Bettmans failure isnt Ziegler bad but its close because Ziegler helped bring the best of the best here . . . Bettman does not

I’d put a 2nd instead of The 3rd as an other possibility or remove poehling and add a 1st and ikonen/ylonen

you're neglecting to value not only domi's role on this team but the fact that players don't deal in raw dollars but rather percentages of cap. next year's salary cap will be around 82.5-84m, depending on the increase of hockey-related revenues.

first, max domi is easily a top 40 center in the league. even if you aren't using him as a 1st line center comparable (which he could be, depending on team/system/other players), you have to evaluate him as a league-leading second line center. centers generally make more money than comparable wingers and defensemen (unless you're the san jose sharks).

second, on percentage of cap, a deal around 8m is honestly still a discount. if you look at comparable players and when they signed, this is extremely obvious. you try and isolate players making over 9m, but most of those players signed their deals when the cap was lower. jamie benn is a great example. he signed his 9.5m deal in 2017-18, when the cap was 75m. that makes his deal about 12.7% of the salary cap. an 8m deal signed for 2020 is closer to 9.7% of the cap--a significant decrease in the "piece of the pie" that domi gets. his agent is likely going to angle for a deal around 10% to 10.5% of the cap--about 8.5m. he'll use skinner, voracek, giroux as comparables who all signed deals similar to benn, around 11% of cap.

to much wrong with this to attempt to break down .

simply put this post is as bad as Eli's are .
when Domi signs for 6-7m i will be back to remind you that basing your opinions on Logic will always win out over basing them on nothing at all .

Anyone who thinks Domi's getting that kinda money doesnt know the player or our team
After the Subban debacle that proved in time Subban was worth no where near 9m
We wont give a player who isnt as successful the same amount .
Although this clears up why you traded us garbage because in your mind they are as over valued as Domi is .

Very Very bad move for MTL that would see me join the rioters for the first time in my life to burn down Molsons Breweries.
That's how bad this trade is

I can't imagine Las Vegas trading you Cody Glass for anything less than Jeff Petry and your first-round pick this year.

I'm sorry, but the idea that Slava Voynov is going to improve the NHL's international relations is a garbage take.

I agree that there's not a huge difference between him and Austin Watson (Apart from Watson's wife coming out and saying that she had just as much of a hand in their issue as he had-which still doesn't make it acceptable), but going out of your way to sign a public relations disaster in Voynov is about the dumbest thing in the world that an organization could do.

You saying that overpaying Domi would see you join the rioters for the first time in your life to burn down Molson Breweries, and then saying that signing Voynov is a good thing is some pretty weird thinking, and makes me very disappointed in how we view athletes.

Why haven't you selected 2020-2021 instead of creating all players/buyout? Counter productive and hard to focus for the viewer.

1. The Tatar trade isn't my favorite but I wouldn't be mad at the return. Just don't think we'd really need another goalie and swapping Evans for Bellows is a no go for me, Evans will make the NHL at one point in the upcoming years and a RH center has a premium.
2. Glass and Ehlers are untouchable (From what I see in their fanbase) like Gallagher/Romanov would be (Picks are more likely to be exchanged).
3. Norlinder has signed a one year deal with MODO already so he isn't coming next year. Romanov agent's already talking with the CSKA for another deal (Even if Bergy feels good about it I'm quite sure he also signs a one year deal overseas).
4. Alzner contract will be tradeable soon, after his last signing bonus hits this summer he actually gets paid peanut compared to his cap hit so a team looking to hit the cap floor would take the 2 year deal at low cost. Also worth noting that Alzner is a really good mentor (Look how he helped Fleury grow last year) and could be used as a third pairing dman in the NHL to help a young core.
