This is a trade MB will have to think about
For most of the fans, that’s a done deal
@grok if Weber retires before the end of is contract, ALL cap recapture is going against Nashville

Surprise surprise another Montreal fan making a terrible homer trade with the avs

In what world do avs want a 35 year old dman signed for 6 more years that you need to take makars spot on pp1 to ensure you get the most out of him

Honestly what a terrible trade

No one if touching that contract giving up multiple 1st round picks . I wouldn’t give up anything for Weber bc at his age and cap hit he’s not worth the investment for the next 6.5 years

It’s not him the player, when it’s all about ensuring avs can keep their own. 8m for a 40 year player is a bad fit

Trading for Shea wouldn't make any sense at all for the Avs. Their window has just opened and it will stay open for quite some years. That cap hit + term is insane considering his age. I know that the cap will go up in a few years, but they have some players on expiring contracts who will make more next year like Bura and Graves. It would be a terrible decision to ruin the cap space for Shea

I get all that, just think Shea for Colorado would be the best leader for that young dcore. He groomed Suter, Josi, Ekholm, Ellis and Jones, can only imagine what he would do for that young elite group of defenders that team has stock piled.

Yeah I agree he could be a good leader. And he could contribute for a few years, but that term is just too much. It's just that you can't take those contracts if you want to be a contender. You can get a couple of good depth players for the same cap hit

Johnson is the leader of that d core and locker room, you do more harm than good moving him out upsetting the locker room, it goes both ways, what are you removing from a very tight knit locker room works well with bednar ensuring guys voices are heard, there is no guarantee Weber would do the same
