i feel like the fact that he has another year and retention can do that. Pysyk has been a scratch for a number of games so is more a cap dump (by dump i mean balancing the cap)

Consider: Braun's ONE YEAR got a 2nd and 3rd and his contract was higher.
Colin Miller got the same, albeit longer term.

Savard is a better defenseman than those two and comes cheaper with this retention. It's also not this year's first. Maybe I could top 10 protect it.

Didn’t notice the retained salary. That makes sense.

With top 10 protection on the pick, this is fair.

This is a great example of an overreaction. There’s no need to trade Savard at this point and San Jose isn’t making that trade because Dell has been better for them this season then Jones has been. This is a clear reactionary post that is very unnecessary.

What we should do is not panic and give Merzlinkins a chance to see what he can do. If he isn’t ready then go make a move.

Harrington has played 12 games and CBJ has loads of LHD prospects/overall manpower. He is expendable for a expiring backup goalie.
It would not be wise for the Jackets to hang on to all of these UFAs, especially on defense. I doubt both Murray and Savard extend beyond their current contracts, and their value is highest now, as there's more games on the line. Murray is hard to move given his injury past, thus Savard seems to be the best chance for them to get a first.

This is not a playoff team and they shouldn't be holding on to assets.
I get what you are saying in regards to the goaltending situation. Just throwing around an idea.
Then again, I'm not a fan or close follower of CBJ. I'm sure you know who should stay or go. Still, the jackets fanbase can't remain blinded by last year's performance.

If you aren’t a fan and don’t even follow the team don’t pretend to know what they should do.

Should we move Savard and Murray, probably. Do either of them extend past their contracts I have no idea and neither do you so we really can’t guess, but Savard has been happy in Columbus and he’s been there is whole career so maybe he does stay.

I’m not blinded by last year. I hated what jarmo did and it wouldn’t have been good for us in any instance and that’s showing now, but we did try to make it. This team is much younger then people think and they are only going to get better with time.

I wasn’t questioning the sharks trade from a Columbus stand point... I was questioning it from a San Jose standpoint. Dell has been San Jose best goalie this year as Jones has been awful the last few years.

This entire site is based around speculative fans who have no clue what will really happen in the future. it's not restrictive to having only dedicated fans making attempts to better the team. I might be a fan of Vancouver/Philly and be better at making threads with them than with other teams, however I don't see why that means I/anyone else shouldn't attempt to make threads like these.

Sorry for making it seem that you aren’t allowed to make teams for whom ever you’d like. I’m just saying you might want to do some research before posing. BecUse if you were to do your research this time you’d know that Columbus might not want to make this move now, and San Jose shouldn’t be moving their “number one” goalie, as stats show anyways.

That’s what one would call an overreaction.... thanks for reminding me to delete that.

alright.

I don't think the sharks like either of their goalies. Dell is expiring and likely won't stick around. I see why you say it is unlikely he is moved as there's no replacement. How about Alex Stalock instead? He would cost a slight bit more and comes from a team that can replace him with Kahkonen.

As to the research aspect, there's still hits and misses. For instance, I'm aware of Florida's greatest need being to strengthen their defense core, however the extent of what they are willing to give up for that isn't as evident. Hitting the value of these trades is a lot easier than knowing the attachment of the fans. Look at Jenner. If I even attempted to trade him even for twice his value I'd have CBJ fans calling for my head.
