Greer and Kamenev would just fill space in Ottawa. Can't see Ottawa being interested in this at all.

what's the plan for this roster when makar, mackinnon, and grubauer are all up for contracts in 2021? adding salary makes those raises very challenging.

Kamenev is pretty talented. He would get a chance to play a bigger role in OTT.

Byram-Makar will probably be the best pairing in hockey for the next decade.

And Kane has been a top-3 player for the last decade. Not crazy impressed with Byram's play at the World Juniors, have to think him or Kaut are the starting point in any Kane deal. Timmins/Jost/Compher are B-level guys, not the type of grade A piece that would get Kane

I don't see him as a guy with top 6 upside, and Ottawa is flush with guys who can play bottom six. Not saying he's bad, but it's not a fit imo. And not a great return for their top trade chip this TDL.

Both teams decline. Kane is retiring a Blackhawk, and Pageau will get a 1st in return.

Kane won't be leaving though in any case, that offer would have to be re-modelled and include at least Byram + 2 firsts seeing as they will be late picks and more to add.

If he's waiving his NMC to go anywhere, it's to go home to his childhood team and play with fellow American Eichel.

To get Kane you will have to give up more than that.

Kane's deal expires when MacK's does, which I love. Also, if you trade out Compher, and get the Hawks to retain a little salary, its not a huge cap hit. At the end of 20-21, even in my pretend deal here, the Av's would have roughly $37M in cap space + any increase in the cap itself. Mix in some kids to help bring in cheaper bodies, and I think they will be fine against the cap.

Or...and hear me out on this, to play for a team with a legit Cup window now, next to the 2nd best player in the league....
