I'll be honest I don't really know the exact price and how good Ellis is but this seems like a disgusting overpay. He's already 30 is he not?

i would agree ellis would be 29 on a fairly good contract but you are giving up a center who could play 3rd line c or top 6 wing, another top 6 winger, a potential top 6 winger in bracco, and a potential top 4 defenceman in lilly plus a 2nd rounde. i think its to much to give up unless the player coming back is a 25-26 year old player who is signed long term.

An overpay would be trading a very good player, not a collection of meh, plus a good prospect for a player like ellis

Ellis might keep his value. But trading three starters for one....Johnsson, Kerfoot and Liljegren doesn't seem to improve the Leafs especially if you need Brassard to play 3C.

I don't know if this makes the Leafs better in the short-term, and in the long-term, I'd guess not.

I like the thinking but if this what takes to get Ellis, Leafs pass.

I think getting Poile to trade Ellis will take a little overpay but I don’t think it would take this much of an overpay. Especially if Nashville keeps going the path it’s going and we end up firing Laviolette. I think you could take kerfoot out and tweek it alittle

That's what I'm thinking. Kerfoot is important to the leafs as a Centre but the rest of the package is pretty decent
