I like your thought on extending Dermot long term. But to do that you're looking at more like 4.8m not 2.8m. What's this nonsense about burying Holl. Leafs need him this year. For sure he would be picked up on waivers .

well i went off of what comparable dman got in earlier years, ryan ellis was at .31 ppg when he signed and it was over 200 games dermott only will have 170 if hes healthy and .28 ppg if he stays at the same pace, ellis got 3.62% of the cap when he signed which works out to about 2.95 mill but with a lower ppg and less of a span to see if that averages out higher or lower i bumped it down, if you were going to do a oscar klefbom type deal at around 4.6 mill which is 5.75% of the cap it would be more like 7 years.

ok show me a player who plaied less than 130 games who got more than that? mcavoy got a 3 year deal at 4.9 mill but he was scoring a .52 ppg

Maybe a more recent comparable would be Sam Girard of the Avs who extended earlier....new contract is 2020/21 is 5m X 7. Dermot might not be quite be in that level, but as you suggest 4.6 X7 might get it done.

This didn't age well...Holl for 3 @ $2 mil with very little experience makes me think that Dermott for 5 @ $2.85 is a solid joke.

well if you read the other comments we have changed the term and amount to 5m X 7 or 4.6m x 7 before this happened.....
