Oilers aren't trading a possible lottery pick on even a mid round pick for Kreider. Can't Kreider be traded to another team? So what is M NTC Smith's motivation to go to Ottawa?

It literally says top 10 protected for the Oilers pick.

To play D again on a team that will give him minutes in a contract year if he comes to camp in shape, so that he has a shot of this not being his last year in the league. If he stays on the Rangers next season, his career is basically over without a PTO miracle situation.

I was trying to think "Hockey Trade". Rangers have a glaring need up the middle. Toronto has a glaring need for 25-30 solid starts a season from a goalie.
