Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 31, 2019
Published: Dec. 31, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This trade was suggested by Claudio B from Twitter (@jacquecoobo). Perhaps the Leafs are downgrading up front but it does bring something they desperately need, decent defense and heaviness. Could be a better fit overall. What’d you guys think of this trade?

Just getting the positive impact at D would be better as Barrie didn't fit in.

I have always liked Bennett, but how much of an upgrade is Brodie over Ceci and Barrie combined if at all?

Its 2 NHL D for one... I'm not on board with burning a year off Liljergen for this season.

Bennett has good skill and plays with an edge. I could even see him sliding in the top 6. I think Brodie is better at decision making in the defensive zone than Barrie, he’s also quicker and got more agility than Ceci. I didn’t plan to trade Ceci but the team was over the cap. Could’ve retained salary on Brodie TBH.

Agree but gotta make it fit with the cap. Brodie’s cap hit is twice as much as Barrie.

Not sure why the Leafs would move Barrie at this point guy just found his game - acquiring Bennet would be a positive but would realistically cost Kapenen 1 for 1

True, which is why I like Bennett.
But we cant lose 2 NHL D guys and get only 1 back, maybe add Stone to Toronto???

Reasonable to say Barrie and Brodie are equal (but different players) and both pending UFA's
so would u trade Johnsson for Bennett? NO
