Description
1 set of trades to do if we fold
1 set if we still fold and shouldn’t try to push for the playoffs
Trades
1.
SJS
  1. Nedeljkovic, Alex
  2. 2020 1st round pick (TOR)
CAR
  1. Jones, Martin ($1,000,000 retained)
  2. 2020 2nd round pick (SJS)
  3. 2022 3rd round pick (SJS)
Additional Details:
This would be a TDL trade and there can be changes made to balance cap (even tho there is a cap buffer for the playoffs/ after TDL) but this is the basis of the trade
2.
SJS
CAR
Now let’s discuss this before jumping the gun on declining this trade.

I think we this trade is great for Jones and Carolina. Jones is a goalie that needs to fight for something; he’s an amazing playoff goalie for example. Last year he was one of the Sharks best players during the playoffs yet he was abysmal in the regular season. With Mrzaek he’s got legit competition aswell, I think this pair of goalies would be great for the goalies and for Carolina and they’d have their net sorted for a few years contractually and if jones can stay above .900 for 30-40 games split wit Petr then I think it’s a great fit.
    3.
    SJS
    WPG
Ambitious but really dillon for a 2nd+something else is really the expected trade but just tossed a big trade together to Winnipeg, top4D with no long commitment, top 9 F and a bottom 6 F plus a pick, ambitious and really unrealistic but ah Dillon for a 2nd would suffice
      4.
      SJS
      1. 2020 1st round pick (WPG)
      WPG
      1. Dillon, Brenden
      2. Karlsson, Melker
      3. Sörensen, Marcus
      4. 2020 3rd round pick (PHI)

There is too much risk either way for Jones to be traded. Personally, I think he is a bad goaltender. But, if it is just the system, and he is really a pretty good goalie, the Sharks will look really stupid for the value they would get for him. On the other side, if it isn't the system and Jones is bad, the acquiring team has egg on its face for having him for so many years.

I think it’s more to do with our team play and then jones 50/50. Our team plays poor team defence and effort, very inconsistent. Then add in Jones I think is a goalie who needs to be motivated and fight for something, s right now he’s playing for not getting the first overall pick on top of him struggling gives him a recipe for no motivation. On carolina he’s firstly getting shook by a trade, second he is not the number 1 he’ll have to fight for a start, and third he’s now playing for a team with cup goals. He’s always showed up in the playoffs and dragged the sharks to the finals in 2016, he has pedigree but hasn’t performed this year plus last and I think if he’s got a goalie who will push him plus a team who is amazing defensively he may rebound and for the playoffs this could spell success for Carolina

I can’t say your wrong for not liking jones but I can say fans of San Jose who watch every game can attest to jones skill

I think the one point in your favor is that all of a sudden, Jones, Dell, Korenar, Shortridge, etc. all are struggling. That points to more of a system issue.

But there are specific problems with Jones being poor at fighting traffic, being bad on his angles, being immobile, etc.

WPG isn't spending a 1st on a bunch of scraps.

Neither of these trades make any sense for the other side.

Carolina has two NHL goalies right now in Reimer and Mrazek. Between then and Jones it makes up three goalies.

Over the last two seasons Jones has been the worst of the three http://hkref.com/tiny/PkKNE

Jones is terrible. You'd be luck for a team to take him for free. Nobody is going to pay you much value. CERTAINLY not a first.

For your second trade you are trading a meh d and some scraps. You'd get a 3rd, MAYBE a second if it's exactly what a team needs

Jones isn't an upgrade over what CAR already has, 100% not worth a first

I like Dillon but he's worth a 2nd at most and really I think he's worth a 3rd, a 2nd is too much imo, Jets don't really need that other stuff, maybe if that guy who doesn't like Winnipegs WiFi was involved they'd be a little more interested in what you're offering here... ?

There is literally no way for the sharks to get a first. There is no one that they are willing to trade to get that return.

Maybe for Kane if they take back a bad contract.
