Is Steen washed? I don’t follow the blues close enough. Any chance the Rangers could flip him with $$ retained?

Sanford def not a deal breaker but doing a rental for a winger seems odd to discuss right now. We've got all 4 lines rolling, Blais about to come back. Kyrou solidifying his spot, and possibly tarasenko for the playoffs. In a year where the GM shouldnt feel much pressure, I doubt he wants to give up our top prospect outside the NHL and the 1st rounder for a rental. If things go south around the deadline, I'd hope we don't give up a first or kostin and instead get someone cheaper than Kreider.

At this point his offense is drying up but he is valuable to the Blues as a leader and a PKer in the b6. Doubt they consider moving him until the offseason when theyll need cap.

No Deal. Kostin and a 1st is too much, even if Steen comes off the books

I'm not sure you have any other prospects actually worth anyone's time. Toropchenko is having a terrible time in AHL after 2 bad years in the OHL. Basically it's Kostin because there is no alternative. And that's why Kreider to Blues doesn't really work.

It’s fine as is with a Kreider extension. I’m biased because I originally proposed it.

Kostin is the right piece because the Blues are stockpiled with wingers. Kyrou is ahead of Kostin. That’s just a fact and he has a higher ceiling. Kyrou is playing because Blais and Tarasenko are hurt.

Looking past this year

Kreider ROR Perron
Schwartz Schenn Tarasenko
Blais Thomas Kyrou
MacMac Barbashev Sundqvist

That’s with no Steen or Bozak with plenty of options to fill in for injuries. Where does Kostin fit in that lineup? He needs top 9 minutes so the 4th line really isn’t an option

If Steen and Bozak are on the roster it makes it even harder for Kostin.

I just don’t see us trading the 1st. We are trying to restock the prospect pool and dealing Kostin and the 1st really is counter productive. Steen has a NTC so I’m not sure he’d be willing to leave either way

All this, plus we aren't handing out another long extension until Petro has his. So Kreider is a rental and the answer is hellsno.
