Within scouting community we often remind people that international tournaments dont mean much in bigger picture because you can have a great week and play amazing or exact opposite, but I will tell you one thing. Fully developed Moritz Seider is top pairing two-way defenseman who would help Red Wings succeed in next decade or so. He has been stellar for GRG and Germany and I would not be surprised one bit if he has top pairing role for Germany at IIHF Worlds. He is that good.

Many people were surprised with the pick. I wasnt. Yzerman went for someone he believed would have best impact on Detroit and picked Seider. He is a beast.

I loved Seider since the beginning of last year and thought whoever got him was taking a great player. He was always underrated in my eyes. I was one of the few people not surprised with how early he was taken

I thought for sure he was gonna be a steal for someone, but probably in the 15-20 range. Still wouldn't have taken him at 6 but I like him a lot and am very glad he's doing so well

I was hoping he was gonna be there for the jets since most draft boards had him in the 20's. I wasnt surprised by Detroit grabbing him earlier

Idk if his offensive output will ever be enough to make him elite but a top pair guy who can play in all 3 zones should be where hes headed.
