You flopped at the draft lottery for Ekblad and McDavid. Third times the charm?

They aren't ruining good players. They just have no idea at all on how to build around them.

*Checks Notes* Third time indeed was the charm. See Dahlin.

About the only thing that could save the Sabres at this point.

I liked murray, I get that it was time to move on though. Ror as it turns out, is a pretty good hockey player. I would have never paid a late first for him, but it turns out so was lehner. Olofsson is a real find from late in the draft, something we don't get much of, certainly not late rounders that can actually score and not just grind it out. Unfortunately murray was never able to address the defense, it was the biggest hole on the roster that botterill inherited. Of course murray was also on the hook for okposo, the Ennis extension, and bogosian. At least botterill doesn't make an ass of himself at gm meetings. Which is probably the nicest thing you can say at this point.

Moulson extension was bad too. All of which are not as bad as trading away O'Reilly for that garbage. At least Murray would make an attempt to fix the roster.
