I don't think they're actually in past being curious about the price, to be honest. We're not going to empty our top NHL-ready forward prospects shelf for a rental. Nor do we need to at this point. If, say, Schenn goes down for the season, then maybe we'll talk.

If Kreider to the Blues (With Vlad T out..)

Something like:

Nikita Alexandrov
Jordan Kyrou
& 2021(*conditional) 3rd round pick - Condition = becomes a 2021 1st if CK resigns with STL or STL reach the WCF IN THE 2020 PLAYOFFS & CK plays in 50% of those the playoff games)

for:
Chirs Kreider 50% retained.

* if 2021 conditional 3rd becomes a 2021 1st by either of the conditions being met, NYR send 2021 3rd to STL.

Rental or not, the Blues are not trading Kyrou for Kreider. Kyrou is among the top 15-20 prospects in the league, with legit first line skating/skills and is already NHL-ready. Not gonna happen.

And Kreider definitely would be a rental, as our next extension is going to Petro.

Kreider for kostin seems like decent value. Kinda into this as a one for one

You are overvaluing Kyrou. he plays 12 minutes a night, yes he has good upside & can be a top 6 winger but Kreider is better now & the Blues are looking at another cup run.

STL get a Top 6 player for a prospect that is 2-3 years away from the NHL & one NHL ready player in JK that plays bottom minutes for STL. Also i didn't state it but i make this deal now, so Kreider is still a rental but 1/2 season & playoff rental.
Like you said its unlikely CK resigns with STL so unless they get to the WCF .. its a 3rd rounder, Kyrou & a prospect.

Nope. And almost no one will agree with you on most of this. The Blues aren't trading Kyrou or Kostin for a rental (nor should they). Book it. In ink.

Several years of expansion draft exempt Kostin (who projects as a player quite similar to Kreider's ceiliing, which is likely soon to pass) vs. a few months of Kreider now is decent value? We can't just give away all the cheap young talent, there has to be a future, too. And I'm sure you;ve noticed we're already top of the West defending champs without Kreider, and for the last months without Tarasenko, as well. When Vladdy is back, nobody is going to think about Kreider.

Rings are rings, and if you aren't getting better at the trade deadline someone else is.

This is true. But a few more rings is better than one more ring. We're not in a closing window here, it's not like it's 2020 or bust. And whatever the situation, asset management is always important. We don't have to be desperate at this time.

As for the rest, how many teams actually improve much at the deadline these days? Not so many.

We shall see. I was looking at Kostin as off limits as he seems to be a Kreider like player, so if CK played & left this kid would fill that void next year and forward. Doesn’t seem like he’s ready to be that top 6 guy yet, neither does Kyrou
Outside of Kyrou & Kostin the STL cupboard is pretty bare as far as prospects at least up front . So B prospect(s) and a potential late 1st rounder probably ain’t the best deal for NYR.

Oh and IF STL let AP get to UFA, July 1st, he’s gonna be a leaf. (See John Tavares & NYI)

1- Kyrou is close, which is right on time as he's had fewer than 30 NHL games at this point.
2- Well... it's bare on NHL-ready forward prospects, yes. We do have a few NHL-ready D-men and a handful of B prospects that are a couple years away still.
3- Nah. He's not going anywhere.

Ok just for the sake of this thread.......

Nikita Alexandrov
Mathias Laferrière
STL 2020 2nd Round Pick
STL 2021(*conditional) 3rd round pick - Condition = becomes a 2021 1st if CK resigns with STL or STL reach the WCF IN THE 2020 PLAYOFFS & CK plays in 50% of those the playoff games)

NYR 2020 3rd Round Pick (DAL)

* if 2021 conditional 3rd becomes a 2021 1st by either of the conditions being met, NYR send 2021 3rd to STL.

Trade happens before STL's 50th game .

Well they didn’t need Kreider to win the Cup, congrats.
Jury still out on Kyrou, make or break year for him.
I knew if Pietrangelo wasn’t extended pre UFA he was a goner. Didn’t see it being Vegas.
