You're trading two guys that have had lousy years (Skjei & Bouchnevich), one guy who refuses to play for the organization that drafted him and looks like a huge bust(Andersson) , and a player who's only averaging almost a point per game because he plays with Panarin (Strome)

for

A teams top prospect and arguably one of their top two wingers.

How is this not a horrendous deal?

Skjei has 17 points this year and he’s a top 4 d, buch has 22 points and is def a step down but plays a factor in the trade. Strome last year put up better numbers without Panarin and with all the talent that winnipeg has he’d play good with them too. Lias while he hasn’t panned our for the rangers would still net around a 2nd and then you add in another 2nd

Lias Andersson is NOT getting NYR a 2nd. He has been shopped to the entire league with a reported ask of someone else's bad draft pick or a 3rd round pick & no one will bite.
And these moving 1/3 of the roster type scenarios are just unrealistic.
There is no need to Trade Strome unless someone wants to really overpay, he's an arbitration eligible RFA at seasons end & hes got chemistry with the teams best player. Even though its a rebuild, hes currently worth more to the team for at least the next year than what he can get in return in a buyers market.

Skjei is not a top 4 D. He's struggled mightily the past couple of games, and Buchnevich has been nothing short of a disappointment this season. Do yourself a favor and look up Strome's underlying analytics with and without Panarin- the difference is staggering.

I agree (unfortunately) with your points here...with the exception that Skjei is not a top 4D...not disagreeing that he has struggled- he sure has...and will continue until the Rangers employ a D strategy which works in the modern NHL. Several defensemen have left this system to flourish elsewhere and several have been adequate elsewhere only to come here and struggle...with Skjei's size and skating ability he would probably fall right in line with this...of course, his value is based on what he is doing now...that all said- doubt he is moved...and one other thing: highly doubt Peg moves on from Ehlers or Versalainen...let alone both.

There's a video circulating of Quinn telling Ruff "he's gone" and "i've had enough of him" after Sjkei's high sticking penalty last night. His TOI is something to watch in the coming weeks with the trade deadline looming.

Too bad it's not Quinn telling Ruff that HE is gone!!
Maybe so- there are cap implications to work out for next year as well (maybe they are looking to extend Kreider AND Strome??)- but if the Rangers trade now they will be selling low on a 25yo who is under contract 4 more years...would be SO RANGERS to do that then see him become a solid #3 or #4 D for a team as he outplays his contract away from NY!!

Any links to this video?

If Quinn cant develop the kids, i'm worried about the future. Relieve Ruff of his coaching duties, he wasn't Quinn's hire & let Greg Brown run the D... then its all on Quinn.

If you have Andersson & SKjei already no longer part of the NYR future plans, both thought to be large pieces when the rebuild started, you have to wonder if Quinn is the guy in the longer run of things.
I mean, he keeps playing Brett Howden? he over[played Georgiev early in the year & he's no longer waiver exempt, so Shesterkin cant get a look while sending AG down to stay sharp, work on his game.
Quinn seems less concerned with developing the talent for the big picture, long term than winning games or trying to win games with Greg Mkegg on the ice & Kappo Kakko on the bench. ??
