MTL have 42 pts, 7 points from a playoff spot (Flyers). New Jersey is the second worst team at 36 points, 6 points less than MTL.

MTL are closer to Lafrenière than a playoff spot. It simply tells that Molson put pressure on Bergevin, but with all the injuries, it surprises me that MTL isnt giving up.

If Kovy replaces Weise (or even Weal) I don't mind, but he shouldnt replace a youngster

Look at 3rd place of Atlantic

Tampa Bay have 2 games in hand on Montreal, so third place in the Atlantic is likely to be at least 8 points away . . .

Kovy didn't get a fair shake here in Los Angeles. I hope he scores 12 goals in the second half-season for the Canadiens.

Once DesJardins made it clear he was going to mis-use Kovy, Blake should have made hockey history by being the first GM to fire two coaches within the same season.

Why does everyone act like he's so bad? I know he's not worth 6M and i know most people like this signing, but even if he was making 1.5M it would be a good deal. He's a point-per-2-game player.

CBJ?

Columbus Blue Jackets. It’s the official shorthand for them. It’s also shorthand for something else. But I’ll be a good girl and won’t go into that here.

Unless you are meaning “you actually think CBJ are a legitimate playoff threat?” - cause I think that’s probably the bigger question. Even after a hot streak they’re still on the outside looking in.

Of course this is the shorthand en Anglais. In French I am not certain. I know there are some differences. Like FLA is FLO (there is no “A” in “Floride”) but not sure with other teams.

Clearly Bergevin still thinks his team is a legit playoff contender. The top 3 in the Atlantic is gonna be tough to crack. Maybe they can sneak past the Flyers for the 8 spot. But they'll need to beat out FLA and CBJ. I don't see it happening. I think the Habs are an 85 point team this season with major changes coming during the summer.

Cant go wrong with a league min. If he doesn't fit in the lineup or if he doesn't play well, then he's on a 2 way (wow!).

Yes I really don't think CBJ (or in Francais CLB) is a playoff threat... they were last year then lost three pillars (centre Duchene, LW Panarin, G bobrovsky) plus a 2nd liner (LW Dzingel) and a backup G (G Kinkaid) that they didn't use who could've really helped them at this moment

As much as it hurts me to say this, Torts is doing an incredible job this season. They should be a bottom 5 team in the league with their roster. They're a dark horse for sure, but the longer they hang around the better their chances of making the playoffs.

To get to 95 points MTL will need to play 12 games over .500 in the second half. That's a 106 point pace over a full season. That's a tall order for any team.

Probably not a ton of roster moves, now that I think about it. I'm sure they'll look to sign a big UFA though. Maybe Tyson Barrie. Maybe Kreider or one of the Panthers forwards. I do wonder if Bergeven will still have a job after this season though. It was supposed to be playoffs or bust this season, right?

If the Habs wanted a high scorer winger from the past, maybe it would have been more beneficial to sign Guy Lafleur or Yvonne Cournoyer.

It's a solid depth move. He will most likely be a healthy scratch when our players get back.

Fleeced? This is a 2-way league minimum contract dammit.

On half a year, he will do a maximum of 350k. That's not even the value of beers sold during one home game in MTL.

Troll at it's finest. He will be lucky to make the top 12 when Montreal gets healthy again.

No risk, low reward. He’ll plug a roster spot until more players get back, and once we’re somewhat healthy he can provide some much needed depth for the Rocket. Good signing.
