As much as I love Nylander, and I really do, I don't see how you can say no to getting Jones. It won't happen because TO isn't looking to move him and Columbus isn't looking to move Jones. But if ever it came up, yeah I'd pull the trigger.

1D costs a lot more than a winger who hasn't scored more than 61 points in a season in NHL, even despite his current season.

Who would you rather have in 3 years? Nylander at 6.9 for another 3 years or Jones at 12 for another 6/7 years? Cause with the way the cap is going up just in time for Jones to be a UFA I'd be concerned about him walking or getting the biggest D man cap hit in the league

Probably, doesn't make sense for either team unless CBJ was real interested in signing Barrie 8 years which I doubt they would be, Ceci is only involved to serve as a capable D man to get them to season end, this type of move from CBJ implies they are looking at a Top 5 pick to add to the nice forward group already have. If it came right down to it I'd offer up Lily and down grade the pick to a 5th

I was thinking more along the lines of them flipping Ceci/Barrie which they would get more for Barrie. I don't see the need for a competent d to finish out the year if their goal is a top 5 pick. I think we could kick in Marincin to give them a body to log some minutes. I suppose they could extend him if they want but I don't see the need with Savard and Nutivaara and the good young and upcoming d prospects they already have. But I guess they could always try and sign him in the off-season anyways especially if they flip him to a contender that can't afford to re-sign him.
