Offer up - Andreas Johnsson for centerman

Created by: SammyT_51
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 3, 2020
Published: Jan. 3, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Give me offers for that scenario. Need some ideas. Ideally defensively reliable third line centerman who can kill penalties and has some speed. Does not need to produce much, he would produce on Leafs in some capacity. Could be a package deal of some sorts with backup if you feel, but mainly defensive 3C.

****ING EDIT: Similar age and similar cap hit or lower!

David Quinn is not head coach of the Leafs. Keefe doesnt use overpaid Dmen on offense.

How about Adam Lowry?? I know jets would never trade him as he is one of our only pkers, but he might fit this scenario perfectly. Jets would have to add but it’s a decent idea.

Not sure what the adjustment was but he's been solid defensively for us - the EvolvingWild twins had him on their Selke shortlist lol.

Seriously though, the centers with speed/defense that you're looking for from us would be Sundqvist or Barbashev but I don't see the Blues looking to move them - they're both versatile and relatively young on our team.

I would say Barbashev, but Berube and Armstrong are totally delusional about Barbashev’s ability to play hockey and wouldn’t trade him

Finally a normal answer LMAO. I dont know what happened but at some point JVR and Bozak needed Brown to hold up defensively because they were so bad. Id do Johnsson for Sundqvist. I think in terms of value it would be fair. Johnsson is young too and can play all situations. Plus is feisty. Something Berube fully enjoys.

Yeah i don't think Armstrong would go for it because Sunny has been extremely clutch for us; but Johnsson would work really well on left wing with ROR and Perron. That spot has been a rotating cast this year, and actually it has been Sundqvist for the last few games, ironically enough.

I feel like he would be a great addition for STL. That would make sense. Actually a lot of sense!

How about a swap of injured players?

    Toronto Maple Leafs
Andrew Shaw (28, can play center, defensively reliable, gritty, clutch)
    Chicago Blackhawks
    Johnsson
