Seider isn't a 1 man team, but I'm sure there's a few d men in the KHL/SHL/Liiga/AHL that are much better than Sandin Seider Romanov etc

Sandin is probably the best offensive defenseman not in nhl but is defensive game is still a big weakness. Romanov , moritx seider, kesndre miller, jake bean, are all knocking on nhl doors. And there all the defenseman who play in khl that have a edge so calm down my friend.

Hard to stay calm when the Leafs have the next Nick Lidstrom in Sandman comming soon to the team. Sandin has that something special that all truly great players have in how they think and play the game that the other players you listed do not have.

Niklas lidstrom ??
Sandin look like a pee-wee on the overtime goal. He let the russian players skate by him without even touching him. Is defensive game is atrocious and not even nhl ready. Yes he have amazing offensive skill but he look a lot more like mike green then lidstrom. So for hockey fan its a lot easier to gave a proper analysis of player. Since where not jerking off on a players who just made a horrible play on the last goal.

That's also my impression. Defensive play is notoriously difficult to evaluate - even with the designers of advanced stats, it's usually a second thought.

So if the question is who's the best offensive defenseman not in the NHL, I'd say Sandin. He's a modern type of defenseman, great with the puck. The question is how the rest of his game will adjust to NHL. I think a player of that type can really help a team, but you need balance.

No and I dont think hes in the top 5 lol. His AHL numbers really havent been overly impressive against men.

The undrafted Brogan Rafferty has looked better than Sandin has in the AHL.

.. Plays well in one tournament against kids and all of a sudden hes the best dman not in the NHL? Leafs fans come on.. By this Logic Nils Hoglander is the next Elias Pettersson.

He will play in nhl i have no doubt about that. But for how long? If he doesn’t fix is defensive game he won’t play top minutes in nhl and will have a difficult time to put point on board with a low ice time average. He will fall out favor since nhl coach need safe defenseman. Nathan beaulieu was terrific in junior and didn’t improved is game enough to ever had success in nhl.

To answer your main AGM question, no he is not. Is he a top prospect? YES. Is he the Leafs' top prospect? Probably. Is he a sure bet top-pairing defender? Absolutely NOT. He definitely may get there, and defensemen do historically take longer to develop, but that's a slower burn Leaf fans are going to have to live with. Sandin in the NHL playing 20 minutes/game regularly next season is not realistic, at least not immediately. Hopefully, fans have patience with this kid. He's going to be good. How good? Well, that make still take a few (or more years) to figure out. I don't think Sandin will walk into the NHL next season Cale Makar or Quinn Hughes style. That's a little unrealistic.

Not even close? Probably ends as a decent second pairing guy
