There would have to be 2 separate trades to make this happen, even though there’s no way anything like this is going to happen but you can dream! Idea is that the wings retain lundqvist contract then trade him to the oilers. I know it’s nuts but I feel this is what the trade machine is for!

Ok but Manning won't resign in Detroit so he has value to Detroit. Now Andersson has issues that makes teams stay away. When he was the captain of Team Sweden at the WJC they lost to Canada and he threw his silver medal into the stands and now he has walked out on his team mid season. I understand why players holdout, they can't play for ever and want to maximize their earnings and most players do as well but most do it at the start of training camp giving the team some opinion at least. To do it in the middle of the season is a real D$#k move it says I don't care about anyone but myself. Detroit is still rebuilding and Yzerman isn't trading away a 3rd in a very deep draft unless he is getting a very good player. Mantha is easily Detroit's most talented player and would take quite an overpay to get him. I have no idea about Erne but I can't imagine him going for more than a 4th.

Honestly I’m a wings fan trying not to over value them lol. I agree better pay up for Mantha. I’m really interested in trying to figure out how to free up cap for the oilers cuz that’s quite a tight situation. What I like about this, is that this actually helps edm now with only a gamble on goaltending. Which we all know in a couple years they are going to be finding their goalie. Koskinen is decent, but a band-aid right now. Lundqvist could be money in this pressure situation for a couple years. Starting to think edm should swap geiorgiev and Smith... you right when guys like lias do this it’s just an f show for everyone.

In what world is this beneficial to the Red Wings! Losing one of their biggest building blocks (Mantha) for a guy who's not going to stay with the red wings, a prospect that is a troublemaker worth maybe a 2nd/3rd and a 1st three drafts from now... oh and we also give up this years 3rd and Erne (a player I couldn't care less about, but still). NO way Yzerman does this.
