Contracts are off and Muzzin can’t play on his offside. But the Bogosian idea is awesome.

The league minimum contracts for the 3rd line trio are in line with what they should get but i think that a couple RFA contracts are a bit off. Mikheyevs injury might negatively impact his contract but i think he gets more than a year at 2 million. They should bet on him and give him a 3-4 year deal at around 2.5-3 M. If he can keep up his offensive prodution around a 40 point pace that would be a steal of a deal when you factor in his intangibles. I guess if he wants to bet on himself being healthy and takes the one year at 2 million in order to knock it out of the park next year and try and get a much bigger contract we could see him taking a similar deal to the one you proposed. He has arbitration rights and if he stayed healthy and kept up his production he probably would have gotten significantly more than 2 mill from an arbitrator on a 1 year deal. Sucks for him that he got injured.

When we are healthy Engvall will be probably be bumped down the lineup which will probably result in a decline in production. Unless they feel like Kerfoot should stick with JT at LW and they try Engvall at 3rd line centre between Johnsson and Kap (which i would actually love). I feel like we are going to ship out a johnson or Kap and Engvall will be a cheaper replacement for one of them.

Dermott may not have the points but he is more valuable to us than 1.5 M. for a 3 year deal i think he gets at least 2.5. I would pass on Muzzin only for the fact that he isn't a RHD and we need to make room on the left side for Sandin. I also think that he will get more than a three year deal and i dont want to commit to a non star player above 30 for any longer than that.

I love the idea of taking a fly on Bogosian at 1 million a year. If he could stay healthy for us next year he could really inflate him value and try to get another slightly bigger contact after that(not from us though). i would pass on Elliot.

Dermott plays on the third pair and a couple minutes less per game than holl. I get that dermott is young with potential but if he wants a short deal he shouldn't receive more than a guy playing more minutes and against harder competition.

Dermott cap hit should only be higher if he signs long term.

I think Dermot is better than his stats. Folks say he's a third pairing ( I have yet to see anyone explain the numbering system), but last year Dermot played with a Russian rookie. Now he's playing well with the favourite whipping Ceci as his partner. Seems like he isn't being sheltered at all. Barrie and Reilly don't play the PK, so I always wonder why the so called third pairing plays against harder competition.
