Interesting trade partner

Description
NOTE VERY CLEARLY: THIS DOES NOT MAKE SENSE NOW, CALGARY IS OUTSIDE OF A PLAYOFF SPOT AND TORONTO JUST STARTED TO SOLIDIFY THERE'S.

IF, AND ONLY IF, Calgary continues to fall out of a playoff spot, and IF AND ONLY IF they decide to be sellers, I think they can be a trade partner

I’ll tell ya this for free:

CGY ain’t giving Hamonic AND a 3rd in this deal, especially when Hamonic would very likely extend with CGY for under $5M AAV beyond this year. On that basis, Hamonic for Kapanen straight up isn’t a fair deal, let alone CGY adding two useful assets to it...

Oh, and Ceci is TOR’s weight to carry this year unless Dubas retains salary or adds a 2nd rounder.

Unless Hamonic is signed, he is being traded as a rental. Kapanen with 2 more years than RFA this has MUCH more value.

Trading Ceci at this point in the season won't cost much...

Jankowski has 1 point in more than 30 games...

Hamonic is worth more to CGY than what you’re paying. Because of his familiarity with the team, his role, and his proximity to his family, he’ll very likely look at CGY as a top 3 location to extend.

If Valimaki was healthy and playing, maybe CGY could afford to move Hamonic. Depth is critical in the 2nd half, and (hopefully) during playoffs.

CGY values Jankowski more than I’m sure every other team at this point. Hard to comment much about his production so far....wouldn’t get much in return, I agree.

With CGY in the wild card and tied for 3rd in the Pacific, moving Hamonic won’t like happen.

Remove the 3rd rounder from CGY’s side of the deal and you are probably right there with value.
