Calgary trade please read description

Created by: BCAPP
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 5, 2020
Published: Jan. 5, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
NOTE VERY CLEARLY: THIS DOES NOT MAKE SENSE NOW, CALGARY IS OUTSIDE OF A PLAYOFF SPOT AND TORONTO JUST STARTED TO SOLIDIFY THERE'S.

IF, AND ONLY IF, Calgary continues to fall out of a playoff spot, and IF AND ONLY IF they decide to be sellers, I think they can be a trade partner

This is a great trade for Calgary and one they should and need to make now. That team is over built with defensemen and really need another good top 6/9 winger like Kapanen.

Sorry, this doesn't help the Leafs at all this season, and certainly hurts in the future. Jankowski and his one assists in 34 games won't even see the ice. The 2020 version of Hamonic, is he really an improvement over Ceci?

So I don't watch much Calgary these days but his numbers are certainly significantly better. His style of play suits the tram well too.

You have to recognize your own biases though, you have basically always said on any thread for any team that trading futures for rentals is a bad idea. It's a VERY cautious outlook. It's not necessarily wrong, but it is certainly more cautious than most

That wasn't my analysis at all.
Kapanan is infinitely better than Jankowski this year. So why trading away Kapanen for a guy who wouldn't even see the ice...makes the Leafs worse at forward.
I know it's subjective.....Is Hamonic really that much better than Ceci....right now. I know there is this perception that any RHD in the league so better than Ceci. But let's not look at what Hamonic was few years ago and what Ceci was last year.
I not said that trading for futures is a bad idea at all teams and all teams Gee, that's the one way out of the playoffs teams can gather future assets.

From the looks of their Corsi/Fenwick/deployment it does seem to be a significant difference. As well stylistically hamonic is a better fit. He's the new generation defensive defenseman who can skate.

Does that mean when actually put with Rielly it will work? No, but maybe it means there is a better shot.

Jankowski is a buy low candidate through and through. He's about 25 and was a 30 point c and apparently someone who Dubas already targetted (reportedly Dubas had a delay on the table for Kadri for Bodie/Jankowski but Kadri nixed it).

Jankowski is playing terrible but I think he's worthy of a bit of a gamble if he can bounce back, because once Spezza is gone (retired or leaves) I don't like our offensive depth at C.

At this point if brooks makes the NHL as a regular that's a huge success.

Kerfoot is an okay 3c, but I love his flexibility to move around the line up. With an injury and no Spezza next year were looking at a guy like Gauthier or Brooks playing top 9 c minutes.

Long story short I think he's an interesting gamble
