Zack Smith makes sense for no team.

Yeah I don't understand hawks fans on here thinking he has any value with term on his contract...

Well we are taking a couple of cap dumps off your hands and that's not free buddy. Smith is not a bad 4th liner either, just overpaid. Bogo makes zero sense for the Hawks so not only is overpaid, he will never see the ice. ER, who knows...obviously he wants out of Buf tough to say if there is much of any value with him. That said, I would personally have included a B+ level prospect such as Sikura or Highmore.

I actually think another team might like to have him for his PK ability.

Neither are my team so makes no difference to me but the Sabres are very likely done for the season, adding another expensive 4th line cap problem in Zack Smith makes zero sense for them or most teams for that matter.

If you retain 50% maybe.

In isolation that is true, but depends. In this case depends if the Sabres are throwing in the towel. If the answer is yes then you are right.

His buyout is $1M, nobody retains in access of a player's buyout

Yes you're right, pointless to do that for the Hawks.
Wonder if he'll be bought out by the Hawks.

I guess I just don't see Buffalo with a lot of other assets they can afford to part with in which to utilize the cap space this trade would create for them to get some players that may or may not get them into the playoffs.
