I can't see any team taking a chance on him, he's been struggling on every team he's on. At this point he's a deadline cap dump to acquire a rental.

This was the answer I was expecting...I feel like it’s a no doubter Pittsburgh tries to move him especially since they’re expected to get into the market for a rental forward since the Guentzel injury. Either way I don’t see them holding onto him if someone else comes in.

yes 3x 40+ point season 2x 50+ point seasons, 1x 30 goal, 1x 20 goal, 2x 19 goal season is struggling on every team.... In his rookie season he was on a 46 point pace (27 points in 48 games).

its just not working out in PIT for him and ppl have to high expectation for him, he is a 40-50 point 2nd/3rd line player who can net 20 ish goals but is bad at defending.

Disagree there are a lot of teams. He's a UFA and with that a huge cap hit for the remainder of the season so he's virtually worthless right now.

It hasn't worked out for him now on a couple teams. He's a UFA with a big cap hit and bad numbers; that's pretty worthless in the TDL market unless there's a playoff team has a ton of cap space to burn and can't find better assets.

Hawks aren't making the playoffs so why? He's a UFA. Trading Saad to PIT makes sense, but Chucky has little to no value coming back and all the PIT fans don't realize Saad is worth a late first or at least a 2nd and 3rd plus a prospect.

PIT gets more cap space and a solid play driver to replace guentzel for a little bit, Hawks can see if Galchenyuk fits with them, maybe resign him for cheap, and a 1st rounder. In my eyes, I don't see Saad sticking around until we are contending again so might as well get what we can for him now

Sure, but when he doesn't defend well and wants another raise when his 4.9 million dollar contract is up, who is going to pay over 5 million for that? There are other options in free agency that are cheaper and can play 200 feet.

Exactly. A non-playoff team could provide him with the environment needed for some success. He gets traded for Domi and Kessel in a consecutive summers and been expected to replace each of them on his new team. If the Hawks or another low level team were to get him, give him top-6 minutes, a good center and let him put his offensive tools to work. His numbers playing with Malkin this season were actually pretty good, albeit in limited time. Id be interested seeing what he could do with a Toews or a Strome

Again though, it's a gamble. He's a UFA so great, Hawks trade for him and he plays 30 games but Hawks want to re-sign him and he goes elsewhere. It's too risky for a team.

If that’s your reasoning for not wanting to get him, I understand and somewhat agree. I guess my counter to that is that with the season Galchenyuk is having, he’s not going to get a lot on the open market. There’s no reason why the Hawks couldn’t outbid another team if they really liked what they saw, assuming Seabrook remains on LTIR or there are some other money moves, which is likely. Now if Galchenyuk doesn’t want to stay, that’s another story but again, how many teams are going to want to commit to him? It’s a lot of unknowns and hypotheticals but a risk worth taking if the Hawks could pull it off imo

points wise only PITs has been a failure for him, he had 19 goals and 41 points in his only year and Arizona, 2 50 and 2 40 point year with MTL, he can produce points.

I always find the NHL interesting, because people are judged based on their draft pick status. If he were a 3rd round pick, everything up to this year would have been awesome, and he would have more value.

Until this year he's been a consistent 20ish goal/50ish point (at least pace, some injuries) player who can play wing and C. That has value.

He has certainly stunk up the joint in Pittsburgh.

A team looking for offensive answers with the cap space, should be happy to take him, but because he has stunk this year, the value will be lower. Up until this year, he would have been worth a late first, or a second and decent prospect. Because he has stunk, I'd say a decent prospect and a late pick. Maybe a late 2nd by itself. Maybe a 3rd and a 5th type deal.

A team like Edmonton, who could use offensive depth would be smart if the cost was low enough (they can afford to trade like two thirds, or maybe their second, with Pittsburgh's second coming back and a third (ie trade like the 40th and 70th for the 55th and Galchenyuk)

A team like LA could consider him if the cost was cheap enough if they want to audition him to see if he fits for resigning. But likely not worth expending assets for such an audition

Neither really seem to be working out great for their teams. Granlund 14 points in 35 games. Galchenyuk 14 points in 33 games. Both -3 in the plus/minus. Both used to be in the 50 point range. Just makes sense to me as a change of scenery for both. Do it now and let them show what they got before the trade deadline. If they don't click with their new teams, you can always trade them again.
