Change of scenery

Created by: SalamiCheese
Team: 2019-20 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 2, 2020
Published: Jan. 5, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
BUF
  1. Wood, Miles
  2. Zacha, Pavel
  3. 2020 6th round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
Apparently, Wood and Zacha are available for trading, I think both of these players came in handy for Buffalo not only this season, but also in the future. Wood is a local guy who can give physical game and grit. Zacha can be a good 3C, improve our PK, can play on the wing, when our young centers develop over time, maybe he will find a more offensive game with a change of scenery.
NJD
  1. McCabe, Jake
  2. Rodrigues, Evan
  3. 2020 2nd round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
It seems that New Jersey still needs LD, which can play in top 4 while their prospects are developing. Rodrigues clearly needs a change of scenery, he may well return his game of past seasons and be a guy by 30 points, while playing in the center or on the wing.

McCabe is the Sabres best defensive defensman. Hes a leader in the locker room and held in high regard by his teammates. I know everyone on here still underestimates him and doesnt understand his value because he doesnt have flashy stats and you all want to over embellish his flaws without actually backing it up with data, but he isnt getting moved unless the Sabres get blown away. This aint it

No, it’s just that you always biased when it comes to McCabe, also I don’t try to trade him in every deal, but now McCabe is not our best defender in defense. We have a large number of LD prospects, we have Dahlin and Pilut, who is supposed to play in the NHL, Montour and Risto looked very good in pair, I see no problems to move McCabe.

Well, do not you see that this season McCabe does not look very good and makes a lot of mistakes? Even Risto looks better, although usually he was a disaster in defense.

Stats dont back that up. He only looks bad to you because your biased against him and are looking for flaws.

You can keep parroting these talking points, yet Kreuger is still using him in key defensive situations, to a moderate degree of success

I don’t understand these charts, but I trust my eye test, and a lot of people also see how McCabe plays. He cannot move the puck, he is mistaken in his zone, he is not an attacking defender. Krueger and Sobotka used it in top 6, so let's re-sign it and leave it in top 6, I don’t agree with all the decisions of Krueger, but Montour - Risto pair looked better than McCabe - Risto pair.

This is great for the Sabres and if Zacha blossomed in Buffalo it could be a major win and at worse he's a good 3C which isn't an easy position to fill, if this is available to Botterill he should take it and run!

Those charts show the opposite of what you believe you are seeing, and I dont even know what youre looking at. Also with Sobotka, Skinner and Johansson were playing their best.

But statistics never lies? After all, Colin Miller and Rodrigues are analytically very good players, but apparently an error occurred somewhere. Sobotka it's marginal player that Botterill traded for our elite 2C, except for some defensive play, he can’t do anything, it’s good that we will never see him again in the form of Buffalo, let him recover and go to the KHL or somewhere else.

I think it’s just a pointless controversy, everyone will have their own opinion, you like McCabe, I don’t really like him, and certainly it should not be inaccessible to trade, almost any player of this organization should be available for trading, maybe except 2-3.

McCabe is just a guy. I'd do this trade in a heartbeat
