Cozens is a stud. He looked really good at the WJC. You guys got a good prospect on your hands.

I'm not 100% on the rule bc he was at the wjc, but they did send him back to juniors at the start of the year, and as far as I'm aware unless it's an emergency you can't call him up after that, I don't think him going to the WJC changes that, but I certainly could be wrong

No, he has 9 free games
If he plays the 10th it costs us a year of his elc

And it’s not a good idea to rush him
He still needs to get stronger & put on some weight to be able to play night in & night out in the nhl

He’s ineligible until his CHL season is over. I’m not sure on how schedules work, but that could expire beforehand where then then the 9 game rule applies

I looked into the agreement rules and he can be called up directly after the wjc. Besides that his season in whl and then playoffs would carry over into the nhl playoffs.

To be honest, and I know a lot of people are saying they shouldn’t I think it is a great idea. I would play him on the wing for his 9 games.

Wait till the end of his season and let him play with the Amerks for the playoffs. Why subject the kid to the NHL bodies till he fills out some more

Idk, i'd want to see him take some center reps. I debated putting him at 2c, but also would rather he puck up the defensive aspects of the pro game, so I think 3rd line duties with a great defense forward would help him the best

Maybe I just would not like to rush with its development. Perhaps the next season he should also spend in the WHL.

He has a bigger frame than Mitts but the kid is skinny as a rail needs to put some meat on his bones to take the pounding of the NHL . No more rushing prospects . See him taking the same path as Reinhart AHL for the playoffs then on the NHL roster next year

He will not be able to play in the AHL next season due to some stupid rule, only from the 21-22 season, so Cozens will be in the WHL or in the NHL next season.

Nothing stupid . The CHL - NHL transfer rule . CHL does not want to give up its star players . They have seats to fill as well . And are the main feeder league still for the NHL. To be honest lots of USHL kids are pushed into the AHL too early and it actually hurts their development . Girgensons was put in the AHL too soon got hurt bad and it hurt his development then Darcy rushed him to the NHL the next year. Nylander was exempt from the rule but he should have never been put in the AHL at 18 . He suffered a bad injury that definitely effected his development . Can we learn from past mistakes ?

Well then, he definitely shouldn't play in the NHL next season. Although the development of each player is individual, but I wouldn’t like to rush with Cozens.

Sam route was okay as that gave him more time to fill out . If Cozens does the same as Sam I see him on the roster next year.

Yes, with Sam, but no with Mitts and Thompson.

Well Thompson was up for a half a season with St . Louis before he got here and came University route. > have to judge case by case. They should have a nutritionist chef out there in Lethbridge feeding the kid all the good stuff to gain muscle and weight

I mean, they kept Thompson in the NHL for almost the entire last season, Mitts also played all last season, and part of it in the NHL. I’m not even completely worried about Cozens’s physical condition, it’s more about psychology.
