Hutchinson is 29 and has no future with the NYR so he is just a throw-in.
Timashov is a bottom 6 forward that you put on the bench in your line-up. So he has no real future in NYR other than in the bottom 6.
A 3rd round pick is a mid round pick.

Andersson is a former high 1st rounder that has fallen out of favor and requested a trade. He hasn't become the player NYR wanted yet, but he still has value.
Georgiev is only 23 and proven that he is a competent backup in the NHL - he even has some starter potential as well if he continues to develop like he is.

I don't feel that the value matches at all for the NYR to consider this trade. Cam Talbot netted the Rangers 3 picks when he was traded, so the potential for a better return is there.

HOW SO?

Hutchinson is barely an NHL backup at 29. Timashov is barely making the lineup at 23.
Georgiev is a future starter and Andersson a former 7th overall draft pick.

Why in the world would New York do this?

edit: You yourself didn't even put Timashov or Hutchinson in the starting lineup, so you basically traded away a starting goalie and top 10 draft pick for AHL depth and a 3rd round pick. All of New york is grateful you are not their GM

They need depth in goaltending, especially now that Georgiev is being traded. Andersson we know has a bad attitude, and I don’t think the Rangers would want to keep him. Hutchinson would be a formidable goaltender in Hartford, and Timashov could one day find his way into the Rangers lineup, and the third? Well, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Alright, you’ll see my reasoning if and when that trade happens nerd. The Wolf Pack need a backup goaltender, and Timashov is just a throw-in. Georgiev has been rumoured (as like any other backup goaltender, to go to the Toronto Maple Leafs for quite some time), and Andersson we know has requested a trade from the Rangers because he has a bad attitude, and to be honest, I would trade Andersson because of that. He doesn’t fit the Rangers’ values.

If you don’t like my reasoning, you can go screw yourself. I don’t care what the mods say.

Your reasoning almost feels like you're trolling... I don't think I'm going to change your mind, but this trade would get the NYR GM fired.

Also I would like to add, imagine thinking Alexandar Georgiev is your starter
