Jakeless Pens

Created by: Mr_Gardoki
Team: 2019-20 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 4, 2020
Published: Jan. 6, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I know the cap will be off because I don't know how to completely factor in all the LTIR, but I'm pretty sure all this fits, so I'm aware the Pens wouldn't actually have close to $9M free.

While I'm a fan of Toffoli, I'll be surprised if he garners more than a 3rd and maybe a mid-level prospect.

Bjugstad and Schultz are basically the trade for Martinez. They get a decent middle-six guy under a solid cap hit for another year and a placeholder for the rest of the season who they may want to re-sign. I think it's fair swap.

I think you are undervaluing Toffoli, i was taking crap for offering a 2nd (cond 1st) + A level prospect (Kylington) + 2021 3rd for Toffoli and Campbell.

It's sometimes hard to gauge. Better players have gone for a 2nd when people thought they'd go for a first. Taking crap on here doesn't mean much since there are a ton of morons lol

You look at last year. Zuccarello went for a 2nd and conditional 3rd last year. Zuccarello is arguably a better player.

Kreider IMO goes for a 2nd + decent prospect, MAYBE a 1st if he gets traded within the division. Kreider is definitely better than Toffoli.

Taylor Hall went for a 1st and Taylor Hall is definitely better than Kreider.

Nyquist got moved last year for a 2nd and 3rd. Nyquist >>> Toffoli

Is there a team that would offer a 2nd? Maybe, but I don't see more than 3rd plus a mid-level prospect.

You can never underestimate a team willing to overpay, but I think if you follow this line of logic, Toffoli is a 3rd round pick guy.
