Rangers prob need better prospects if they’re retaining salary and taking on coburn.

Why would NYR retain? Because of accrual we can afford Krieder with lots of room to spare.

Not like he’s getting playing time in Tampa tho. Schenn and Rutta seem to have out played him

Agreed, no retention needed, a 1st, Verhaeghe and a conditional 3rd in '21(becomes a 2nd if Kreider resigns or Tampa makes the SCF) or the lesser prospect in place of the cond. pick seems fair. Tampa could also offer a better player/prospect but then I doubt they offer the 1st for a rental as Tampa hasn't been known to give 1sts for rentals, but maybe JBB is different on that approach from Yzerman.

How about giving Verhaeghe, Joseph and a 3rd so that we keep our 1st rounder?
Everybody using it for trades, I would like very much Tampa to have 2 1st rounder this draft which seems it will have a lot of talent in the 1st round. Our prospect system is filled with good middle/bottom six players but we are missing the high end prospects. We could address this issue in this draft and we have the pieces IMO to get a TDL deal done without touching the 1st rounders. And personally I would like the deal to be something more low key than Kreider. Not too high on him tbh

You are right. Rutta is our 6th D now, he's been playing great.

Although I think a player like Kreider would be very helpful for the late push and playoffs, I understand not wanting to trade a 1st in next year's draft. The Vancouver pick may be this year, it may be in 2021. If Tampa is good with the top 6 then an add would be for the 3rd line or for depth. In that case then maybe going for Kreider isn't the best case for the Bolts. Not sure who they would target yet, but I still think Toffoli is an option for something around Joseph plus a 2nd and maybe another late pick if needed. Both Kreider and Pageau would also be great, but I believe either of them will require a 1st, and again JBB may or may not want to deal a 1st for a straight rental.
