No rush trading for Puljujarvi, Rangers are only bidding against themselves.

What other teams are interested in Puljujarvi? He's no help to any team this season.

So? Neither is Lias Andersson? Puljujarvi would be 100x more useful to NYR. Another Finnish player to make Kaapo more comfortable. Puljujarvi imo has more upside and just a solid deal for both teams.

Andersson could play for another team right away. NYR could also for example include Andersson with a bad contract (like Smith-NYR D-man) so Gorton if he wants, could resign all his UFA's and RFA's currently on the roster for next season. Why trade now when NYR could keep their options open?

Also the more time Andersson sits out it sets an example for the next spoiled brat who demands a trade. Andersson was playing horribly and tipped at least 2-3 shots into his own goal just before being demoted. The last time it happened Lundqvist was about to break his stick over his head. One could argue Andersson was sent down to the AHL for his own protection. Upon his arrival to the AHL Andersson sulked and played so poorly that he still leads the Wolfpack with a minus -9 in only 13 games. The next worst plus/minus is a minus -5 in 35 games (Joey Keane) and he's an AHL all star this season - in his rookie season. Truth be told if Andersson kept sulking and acting like a spoiled brat on the ice, he might have been sent even further down to the ECHL in order to smack some sense into him. But he quit the team, instead of taking responsibility for his own actions. I still believe Andersson will be a good NHL player one day, he just has some growing up to do.

It hasn't happened because Lias Andersson sucks. He was a huge reach where he was taken, and has never lived up to that.

People love to crap on Jesse Puljujarvi for struggling out of the gate, but Edmonton really did a lot to stack the deck against him from the start. He's proving this year that he's still immensely talented, and I think he will thrive with a change of scenery.

Last thing Oilers should do is take the first deal that comes across their desks and end up with another Eberle for Strome situation. Or another Strome for Spooner for that matter.

You're right, he'll most likely be traded post-season. Maybe at the deadline as payment for a player that can help the Oilers this year (and beyond, Holland won't trade him for a rental).

Someone posted game score numbers on twitter recently and JP is posting incredible numbers in Liiga this year. iirc he's at 4.20/gp, the next best player is like 3.40/gp. AND he's one of the best players defensively in that league. Not bad for a 21-year-old in a league roughly equivalent to the AHL.

Lias is not good enough YET. NYR are the youngest NHL team, desperate for bottom 6 defensive forwards, centres that can win a faceoff. Lias is certainly not there yet and may never be, just like many others; PuljPulj, Gauthier, Volkov, Zykov, Honka, Yam, Senysh, JFK, Max Jones, HoSang, Sprong, Petan, Borgstrom, Perlini, Zboril... Some will make it, but mostly as spares

I think he's still a player. I think he's going to put it together if he gets a chance with another team.

Personally, I really hope that team is Ottawa. If Ottawa could add two top 10 picks and then go make a deal to add JP. All the sudden they have one of the most dangerous offenses in the league.

Yeah, things look like they're finally breaking Ottawa's way this year - those picks could both be top-5. And you should get some assets for your pending UFA's, too. Maybe - finally - things are looking up in the capital.

Lias should have been a mid 2nd rounder, Oilers have enough trash cant take other teams garbage as well.
