my thoughts exactly - expected an internal promotion of an interim coach - but then Poile didn't announce a new coach after firing Laviolette. Now we have Hynes as the new head coach. This is an odd choice to me and really just feels like a worse Laviolette. But I don't know too much about him other than he couldn't get much out of his team when he needed to and now he needs to get A LOT out of the NSH players, so I'm not terribly optimistic.

As I understood, Hynes has connections with the top of your organization, that's why he was appointed. Conditional DeBoer would look like a more logical option.

I am not the biggest PDB fan, but I would rather have him than Hynes - he could've done well here for a couple of years and then we could just promote our AHL coach or something.

Time to see whether or not Hynes is a good NHL coach. Preds have the talent that NJD didn't have throughout their lineup, but he should definitely have a short leash for this team.

Poile is definitely on the hot seat after making this move instead of appointing just an interim coach. A lot of his move have not really been panning out of late..

Traded Subban -- looks solid considering his lackluster play this season (though the return was still low)
Traded Fiala for Granlund -- he has not worked out AT ALL on this team
Signed Duchene -- started out great and is now just a passenger
Resigned Josi -- the contract is huge, but he is playing like a superstar right now
Resigned Sissons -- looooooong contract, but an OK AAV. we'll see how this one turns out.
Resigned Watson -- meh, low cost but I also thought he was expendable and could allow for a prospect to take his roster spot next year (Trenin, Tolvanen, etc.)

I think those are all of this recent moves. No real bad moves on paper, but they just aren't really working out other than Josi playing like a man possessed. I still like the Duchene signing, I think he just needs a different style winger than Granlund or Turris to play with consistently.

More referring to his trades that he has made. Turris, Ryan Hartman, Wayne Simmonds. to name a few of the big ones. Just saying he has had more misses than hits in the last few years. He is a lot better in the department of homegrown talent and trading for prospects. Rather than trading for NHL talent.

Oh definitely Simmonds was a miss. And giving up a 1st for Hartman was just silly. Turris looked good when he first came to NSH, but then he got paid + an ankle (or foot or something) injury - he just doesn't look like the same player anymore. All of those moves have turned into some big misses. So he's had some big misses and some only minor positive moves. If he keeps this up, he may be gone with in the next year or two.
