Galchenyuk and 2020 1st for Saad or no dice. Price is high but he's having a great season, and would fit right in with Pittsburgh's style of play.

Interesting offer for Saad but Bjustad's salary increases this year and next and obviously he's a liability given his injury history.

No way is Saad having a great season for a 6 million per year player. He is only pacing just over .5 ppg. I’ll keep the 1st and Galchenyuk who has been mostly on the 4th line, over 1 million cheaper, a pending UFA and is pacing slightly less than Saad.

That sounds like Saad at 50% retention to me...

Murray and Galchenyuk are having turrible seasons bro. Nuge is one of the best 2 way centers today and only 26. Rust instead of Galchenyuk and maybe. Oilers lack center depth so this is a no go for nuge anyways.

So why are they playing one of the best 2-way centers at wing? Honestly assumed they would rather have a natural wing in Galch and a proven goaltender instead but you're probably right... https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/edmonton-oilers/line-combinations/

Is he better than Sam Gagner who cant even crack the oilers roster? his stats say he isnt. Galchenyuk that is. IMO
A lot of teams have 2 center per line in the top 3 lines now, just the way the game is changing.

He's a defensive forward. His numbers were never meant to be great. He's a perfect winger in Pittsburgh. Galchenyuk is meant to have great numbers and hasn't, he's a much larger disappointment than Saad. Saad is a 200 foot winger, something that Pittsburgh had inserted into their line ups for their cup runs (Guerin, Dupuis, Kunitz, Rust, Sheary, Hagelin). Saad is also playing 3rd line minutes with Kampf and Kubalik in a shut down role. That line single-handedly kept McDavid scoreless when matched up against him. Saad would be perfect in Pittsburgh, that's why the price is steep.

Who cares if he’d be perfect in Pittsburgh? That doesn’t mean pittsburgh is desperate for him. It’s not what Pittsburgh needs. Pittsburgh needs a goal scorer. Like I said, they have been putting chucky in a fourth line defensive shutdown role here too. Why would we take on an extra 8 million this year and 6 million next year to slightly improve the offense and defense?

We have Hornqvist, Rust, Tanev, ZAR, Blueger, McCann, Bjugstad, Simon, Kahun, Jake (when he’s back for the playoffs and next season), Crosby, Lafferty to play a 200 foot game and chip in on scoring from time to time. Hell several of those players score more than Saad does too and are just as good, if not better defensively. Saad would be relegated to 4th line come playoff time, if he could even crack the lineup. The pens aren’t going to make the mistake of paying a 1st plus a player just to get that again.
