Personally I would keep ceci. Depth down the stretch and in the playoffs wouldn’t hurt. Could be rotated in on back to backs and injuries.

Leafs fans don't like to hear it, but Ceci is their 3rd best defender right now, after Muzzin and Holl. They need him, and I think they'll keep him. Yes, Dermott will be a better D and should probably be playing more, but there's a reason Keefe usually plays him 13-14 minutes a night while playing Ceci 20 minutes. Since Ceci/Reilly has been broken up, Ceci has been very good both 5 on 5 and on the pk. Reilly on the other hand has continued to struggle defensively. McDavid isn't the only one walking around him 1 on 1, it's becoming a regular occurrence. Ceci's play is not a problem, Reilly's is.

Lol. It would be cool if people on here watched the games for the sake of watching the games instead of looking for reasons to reinforce their opinions on players. Yeah Ceci is better than Rielly and Barrie. I am seriously getting to the point where I don't want to cheer for the Leafs for 2 reasons.

1) troll nation is the worst. Half of hockey fans only want to see TO fail. They hate the Leafs more than they love hockey and spend all their time chirping. It's pathetic.

2) It seems that half of leaf fans are as fickle ridiculous and petty as the trolls.

The ideal that many don't want to play in TO due to the media nonsense is definitely true. Look at Rielly for example, he is without a doubt a top echelon defenceman but now the mob says he sucks defensively and now half of Leafs nation watches him only looking for mistakes. McDavid pulls off an insane move and Rielly sucks, it wasn't because the best player in the league does a move only he can pull off that would have left anyone in his dust, it's because Rielly sucks. What a joke. Humanity is failing in everyway.

I said Ceci is the Leafs 3rd best "DEFENDER". You think Reilly and Barrie are better at keeping the puck out of the Leafs net than Ceci? I watch every game. I watch Reilly get beat almost every night in 1 on 1 situations. I know Connor McDavid is the best player in the world. I also know that even when the best player in the world is coming down 1 on 1 against any NHL Dman with very little speed that he 99 out of 100 he shouldn't even get a decent shot on goal.

If you think Reilly is good defensively you know very little about hockey. His footwork is terrible. He pivots and crosses over when he doesn't need to, putting himself in vulnerable positions. For a Dman that skates as well as he does, his gap control is often poor (another reason McDavid was able to beat him). I like Reilly, but he should be better. I like the Leafs D core, I don't think they should make any changes. If they're all healthy and their all playing well they are good enough.

He's playing with some sort of nagging injury. As for Ceci being a better defender, no he isn't. He's terrible, rarely is in the right position and he bleeds chances. There is this old school mentality (Babs favourite catchphrase) where being a good defender means you just skate backwards and clear the crease. "Standing in the right spot" that doesn't make a defender good. In fact in makes them terrible, because all they are good for is standing in front of their net and pushing guys out of the way. Ceci is a 3rd pair defender. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't understand how the game is played.
