@Laudan... thinking more or less something like this. Pieces would need to be moved in the offseason. This gives us from TDL till the season opener to make decisions.

They are not going to trade 5 roster players. It took them a bit to gel from the amount of offseason moves they made.

This is in response to another agm. Both are not realistic.

Seems like your disliking of Campbell is mutual to mine of Georgiev......to lazy to rewrite :

Quoting: Laudan
And on the top of that 90% of TML fanbase is having a boner on Georgiev. Andersen fell from 2,32 GAA and 0,918% to 2,75 GAA at same % after he came from ANA. Imagine what current D would do to 3,07 GAA at 0,913% Georgiev......

And i also stated about Hyman, would like to have him multiplied, but $$ wise he isnt doable next year wanting 4M+ at 30y

but all in all, lets face it....window for the Cup till Tavares starts to decline and "the three" will need to be re-signed or they will walk 2 years to soon is defenitelly covered with that D.

I don't think the conditions on the Ellis pick are good for either team. It hurts NSH potentially and handicaps TOR from using any of those 3 picks in other potential trades. Just make it a 2nd that turns into a 2020 1st if you make the ECF or something. I don't see the trade happening though

We do not have a 2020 1st.

This is basically like the McDonaugh condition only it turns into a 2nd rather than nothing.

Yes. Barrie, an ok prospect and a 20 goal scorer is enough to get Ellis. Maybe add a 3rd rounder but that's it

I don't mind the Rangers deal, though I think we can get Jack Campbell for less. As for Ryan Ellis, I don't think he's moving anywhere, regardless as to what kind of season the Preds end up having. My biggest issue is your deal for Connor Murphy. As far as I am concerned, he is not a significant upgrade over Cody Ceci for the Leafs to be giving up that kind of package to get him. There are better, and perhaps cheaper upgrades out there the Leafs could probably make. Just as a side note, based on the Leaf's lack of centre depth, this season, and moving forward (I am not so convinced that either Engvall or Brooks can be a full time centre), I don't see Kerfoot going anywhere anytime soon, even though, at the moment, he is playing as a winger. When the Leafs are fully healthy, I expect the lines to look something like Hyman-Matthews-Marner, Johnsson-Tavares-Nylander, Kapanen-Kerfoot-Engvall, Moore-Speeza-Gauthier.

I do agree with what you’re saying. This is a response to another thread.

I do not have any issue with using engvall as a 3c next season.

Ah alright. Leaf fans love to love on Connor Murphy and David Savard for obvious attributes to things the Leafs do not really possess on their backend beyond Muzzin. However, as I said, I think they are other, better, opportunities out there.

Issue or not, it's whether Engvall is a good enough center. He is obviously a good enough forward and winger to stick around in the top-9, but not every forward can make that transition at the NHL level. Just look at Nylander. In my opinion, he is a terrible center.

Engvall has been developed as a centre. I think he will be quite successful there.

It is his natural position, yes, and he was drafted as a center, which he played for his Swedish Junior team. But just because he is a monster, does not mean he will be able to win faceoffs consistently.

You're not getting Murphy for that mainly because we don't need Kerfoot. Hawks have Toews, Strome, Dach, Kampf, Carpenter as centers on the roster long term. Murphy will cost Kap or Johnsson as a starting point and we will eat the useless Ceci cap dump (try to flip him for a 5th).

If you don't think Murphy is better then Ceci by much, take a look at the advanced stats and look at who their pairings have been also. After doing that, I'd have a hard time you'd still hold that opinion. Murphy is one of the most underrated defenders in the league on a very fair contract. He's top 4 on almost all teams, and top 2 defensively on teams like the Leafs and Chicago who are defensively weaker.

His percentage is a bit low in the free he has taken but he is certainly good. I think that would be something he could easily improve.

Reasonable. Not much else to offer that would suit your needs. Keerfoot could certainly play the wing. My idea is that you could bounce him from centre to wing depending on how Dach performs. Having a winger who can jump in on centre certainly isn’t a bad thing. Especially if you run into injuries. Just not sure you need him on the wing either.

We need a dynamic speedy winger or, especially if we trade Saad, a two way power winger. Just don't see Kerfoot fitting either of those.
