I wasn't referring to your trade it was just a generalization because his value has dropped. Before he got injured he was about 4 points behind last years pace but his goals are down. As I said before he has 2 years until he is an RFA so Detroit doesn't need to trade him. Resigning him for another year won't be a problem because Yzerman reached out to him in the offseason. To let him know he is starting with clean slate and his hold out with a couple of seasons ago doesn't matter because it was the last GM. The GM when he held out was Holland and since they really don't like each other I'm not sure holland wants him in Edmonton. Now McLeod will be an NHL Player but he's doesn't he is a defensive forward checking/energy line guy most likely bottom 6. Since Erne, Perlini, Ehn and Smith that all play that role and they all have a better offensive upside, well not Ehn I think he might be scared of the puck. Now this trade might be where AA's value is now. But the whole the team is doing worse this season after 43 games they have 92 goals and after 43 games last season 122 goals thats a 30 goal difference. Since he did score 30 goals last season and it would be stupid to trade him now when his value is at its lowest. So holding on to him for another season and see if he rebounds is the smart choice.

Hard to say I mean if split mcdavid and drats and actually pans out just the way the team is rn they need to play together to have that team successful but if benson get the call and plays well who knows.. either way both wouldn’t hurt.
