You're out of your mind if you think PIT accepts that

not that we'd trade him but

Kovalev has 20+ minutes average ice time in back to back games after not playing since Nov.
he has 3 assists and was the driving force on a 4th and was on ice for 4/5 goals MTL scored in the past 2 days

he had 10 hits and 2 block shots to boot .
Honestly he's the perfect fit for MTL so why these wing nuts keep trading him is beyond me . . . its as if they dont watch games

Top 6 winger for 700k is going to be worth a lot if Kovalchuk continues to do what he's doing.

Teams didn't want to take a chance on him because he was god awful in LA. He's out to prove people wrong, as he's currently doing.

Because most people see the writing on the wall and this patch work BS over the years has lead to no superstars and aging players underperforming. Montreal needs to rebuild, and signing Kovy, building his value and selling him at the deadline is amazing asset management. If they want, they can offer him a contract in the summer. Maybe he signs with Montreal after allowing him this chance to get his foot back in the door in the league.

People want to blame the coach, yet every year we see players having career years. He is getting more out of them each year, but they just aren't good enough. Rebuild, get some star power on the team through the draft finally.

Although I would love to agree with you that Kovalchuk would sign in Montreal. I think he will get his contract elsewhere just like Radulov did after the Habs gave him a chance too!
