Was Tom Barrasso HOF Worthy

Description
This one is interesting to me, because a lot of Penguins fans suggested that he is, but I’m not too sure. He won the Calder, but not Vezina trophies. 2 cups and a 89.7 career save percentage. That’s better than Grant Fuhr. What’d you guys think?

You are right he did in 1984. Also had a Jennings. Even more reason why he should be in.

I think he checks all the boxes. Mid 80s to mid 90s i dont think of him as being one of the greats, but he had individual and team success.

Yeah he’s won cups, he’s won all the important trophies a goaltender needs to have plus the stats are pretty good as well. If he was Canadian he’d be more likely to make it.

Its a little tough to compare era's and I think that is why some people might see some guys not being worthy based on the era they are currently in. Based on his accomplishments though, there is a case for him to be worthy. If the HOF was dedicated only to the absolute cream of the crop, I think he may not get in, along with quite a few others throughout the years.

I feel the HOF minimum requirements are lower than what it should be. IMO a HOF player should be unanimously agreed upon and without any question. Some of the players that get in from year to year have been "maybe's" in my mind. If you are a "maybe", that means you aren't a HOF'er IMO.

Based on how the HOF works now, Barrasso is worthy. If it were up to my requirements, he wouldn't be.

Yeah I agree. Personally, I think only the best of the best should make it, we’re talking generational players like Crosby, elite franchise players like Malkin, defensemen with multiple Norris trophies and a Hart, goalies with multiple Vezina trophies and a Hart. These are the type of players who should be considered an absolute lock for the HOF.
