If and I do mean if, the jackets ever wanted to part with Jones. It would be for a quality for quality offer. They don’t want quantity trade.

Nylander plus sandin or liljegren would be the minimum starting point for Jones

Matthews? You have got to be kidding. A super elite franchise centre is worth a heck of a lot more than Jones. I am not sure I'd target Jones, he's certainly great but I am not sure I would pay the price it would cost to get him. I think getting a guy that is still to hit his stride is the smarter move. It would cost less and have a greater return in the end.

I'll add my voice to the chorus of unanimity. Spare parts and a first don't make even the fingertips quiver. Since I think Sandin is significantly better than Liljegren, I think Columbus would want him (plus Nylander) even though Sandin is a leftie.

That's basically the same offer another TOR fan made for ANA in exchange to Manson, with the addition of Liljegren+1st. And it poses the same problem. Considering the need for Jones, the hole moving him would make is so much bigger than the holes CBJ would fill with a lousy quantity for quality trade like this. It's never going to work for both teams.

The purpose of the Leafs (or any team) to acquire Jones would be strengthen themselves now and two years with one player...at RHD.
Trading away a good/great or multiple good/great assets currently on the roster might not make your team any better. It's just a juggle of assets.
So I can't imagine a team giving more than one great asset for Jones. It might be one great one and a future one. Cause can Jones or one player might that much of a difference in a team fortunes. Jones and his one playoff round win in his seven NHL seasons tells me, no.
